Vintage Groove 3 and Fiskars Oval Cutter Demo

I purchased Making Memories Jill Schwartz Vintage Groove III paperweight this week.  It is so cool and holds a ton of possibilities.  The real catch for me is the depth it has to add embellishments.  I can also see using alcohol ink on the metal base or glass top.  The possibilities are endless.

The first thing I needed was an oval insert.  I purchased a Fiskars Oval Cutter a few months ago but I haven't had time to learn and play with it.  I saw I was going to be able to use it on this project so what better opportunity to learn something new, apply it to my project, and create a demo on the use of the Fiskars Oval Cutter.  You can purchase them locally at Michaels or I found it here as well at Fiskars Oval and Circle Cutter Set.

My Project
I was looking for vintage style photos when I ran across this photo of my Aunt Texie Mae.  My Aunt Texie Mae and Uncle Max have always had a big impact on my life.  It started when I was only about 2 years old when me and mom stayed with them while dad was overseas via the military.  Mom worked so Aunt Texie Mae took care of me.  From there we've always had the connection.

When I  looked at the photo I noticed a photo on the end table next to her and it was a large photo with a small photo of me in the corner.  I laughed to realize I had that photo.  I printed a very light copy and layered it behind the photo of my aunt.

  9. Just bought the paperweight from Michaels. Am I supposed to glue the glass onto the base when I'm finished? And if so, what kind of glue should I uses?

    1. Emily, I left my glass unattached. but if you do decide to glue it down. I would probably use Glossy Accents by Ranger and put a very small amount all around the outer rim of the glass. I would suspect that even super glue would work if you were very careful.
