When I Think I Can't ... More Creative JumpStart Summit

The art the instructors of Creative JumpStart Summit 2013 are awesome and they make it look so easy.  Which gives me the courage to give it a shot.  I can guarantee that my art is not as good as theirs but my studio is messier!  LOL

Here is a layout of my Uncle Max with photos from my mom's album dating from 1957.

Ingredients: Tim Holtz paper collections, Bazzill Wings (metal letters), manila tags, Tattered Angels glimmer mist, Ranger/Tim Holtz Distress inks, Plaid acrylic paints, Ranger embossing powder and Tim Holtz Distress embossing powder, Scotch two-sided tape, stencils from The Crafter's Workshop, Sizzix embossing folder, Ranger Paint Dabber Snow Cap.  Layout inspired by Lisa Pace.

Layering with stencils, ink, mist, and paint was the lesson from Julie Fei-Fan Balzer:  first set of tags was nothing but Distress Ink, second set was nothing but Glimmer Mist, third set was nothing but paint...with stencils.

The fourth set of tags was all three mediums on one tag.  then I did a little free style and stamping.  I love it.  I cut the tags up and make my background for the photos.  I used the top of the tags as sort of a faux tag beneath several of the squares.

I loved making my own stencil (light blue) with a Fiskars border punch.

Nathalie Kalbach did a technique involving two-sided tape and embossing powder.  I gave it a shot with Distress Embossing powder.  The only hitch is that you must make sure it is completely heated before touching it.  It will crumble right off if not.

I topped off all the squares by embossing them with a Sizzixx embossing folder.

I did not think as I created this layout that it would turn out so well.  I love it.  I hope you get to sign up for  Creative JumpStart Summit 2013.  (FYI:  no one is asking me to plug this event...I just love it).

Have an Artsy Crafty Day!
