I Just Love to Make a Mess! (Giveaway)

I went through the 12 Tags of Christmas with Tim Holtz and I did not put away my "stuff" until it was over.  It was an organized mess.  I finally got it all cleaned up when I decided to play with tags again for my One Little Word book.  For the entire weekend no one but me could have found anything on my scrap table.  I finished my project and finally was able to clean it up Sunday.  I've started a new project with Tattered Angels glimmer mist and the mess is there again.  It's hilarious to try and keep my studio organized.  I guess in a way I create better with the clutter!

Have you seen the challenge Kim Whitten is doing?  It's the 52 Week Project.  Every week you take a photo.  The object of the photo remains the same.  It can be you, your child, your dog, even go for monochromatic looks like B (you have to read her site).  I'm working on 52 Weeks of my husband, Jimmy.  What's really wonderful is that B gives you help on your photograph and Kim helps with photography, prompts, and inspiration.  Her site is 52 Week Project.  I hope you join in with me.

Giveaway (first of 2001!)
Are you starting any "challenges" for 2011?  Leave a comment about your personal challenge or if you are joining challenges like the 52 Week Project.  I'll pick a winner in a couple of days to receive some fun scrapbook goodies from the heART of Scrapbooking.

I finally finished my mini-book for One Little Word.  I'm not totally comfortable creating mini-books so it takes me a bit to get going and finish.  But there is a personal feeling of accomplishment when I do finished.

Here's my One Little Word book for 2011:  (with Things I learned through mistakes)

when planning a collage of stamped images lay it out first!

the thicker the crackle paint and more prominent the crackle

silhouettes are totally awesome

simple is sometimes better when you want to focus on your photos

alcohol ink, distress ink, archival ink, and paint are very cool together

a little hardware just adds something to your project

my favorite...i learned to fade one color into another for a cool effect...distress inks from Tim Holtz, spiced marmalade and yellow mustard (along with my vintage photo and walnut stain).

laying out the collage of stamps does work better!  LOL

stamp all your images, both front and back, before adding texture.  you'll get a better image

 Cover
add a pop of color, archival crimson, to draw your eye to a focal point

I added antique lace that my mother gave me and I love my mini-book!

I have a few things up my sleeve for 2011.  Tutorials and a special project I picked up starting last week.

Have a wonderful beginning of 2011!

Gratitude List

  23. happy new year!
My personal arty/crafty challenges this year would be to do one painting a month and one sketch a week. Wetcanvas.com have those challenge threads there. I want to concentrate on upping my art skills this year. But still will do scrapbooking as the photos keep getting taken. ;)

  26. My mission is to scrap more layouts. I spent a year making lots and lots of cards. My own personal ones and for a group too. While I will continue making cards, but want to focus more on layouts.
