Make Yourself Informed...RAK Involved

This blog entry is in honor of my dear Aunt Evelyn. My aunt recently passed away. It was a shock! Although she was advanced in age and had been struggling with Parkinson's disease, my aunt was handling life wonderfully and gracefully. She was never known to complain about her personal discomforts. She was energized by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her passion in life was her family and her love for Christ. She lived her life pursuing both.

My Aunt Evenly become very ill around Christmas and continually was seeking medical help. Due to the nature of the Parkinson illness physicians put off her symptoms to either the Parkinson's or the medication related to the Parkinson’s. When she was last hospitalized she was finally diagnosed with Breast Cancer. But it was inflammatory breast cancer. It is a killer that most people are not aware of, even doctors. She passed away quickly but in a great deal of pain as the cancer quickly took everything away from her. I've heard the stories of her suffering, but also of her testimony of her steadfast faith as she moved from this life into her Savior’s arms. She prayed, sang, and said goodbye to her family. My cousin said she not only lost her mother, but she lost her best friend. Aunt Evelyn will never be forgotten.

In honor of my Aunt and my cousin I want to give a Scrapbook RAK away to one person. Click on the link to the right about Inflammatory Breast Cancer and watch the new report concerning it. It does contain some graphic photos so be aware. Leave a comment. When I get back from vacation on Monday I will choose one person to receive a box of fibers, ribbons, and other goodies. My hope is that you are informed and also to make sure you take the opportunity to tell someone how much you love them and honor them. If at least 50 comments are left I will add a Making Memories Tag Maker tool.

  6. Debby, I am so sorry for your loss... It's really sad that things like that happen in this day and age. But your aunt seems like she led a great life, I hope you can take comfort in that.

  7. I've had this link sent to me in the past week...I've posted it on all my support and message boards to try to get the word out. I like to consider myself pretty well informed about health issues, especially ones that can affect me and my family (I have 2 daughters but know that breast cancer is NOT limited to women) and I NEVER knew anything about this type of breast cancer. Scary stuff. My heart goes out to you, losing your beloved aunt. She sounds like she was an incredible woman and faithful servant to Christ. God bless you and yours.

  25. Thanks for sharing the information and am very sorry for your loss. My family went through a similar experience with my grandfather (different type of cancer) where the doctor's just couldn't figure out what was wrong and he kept trying different doctors as the pain was so horrible. Eventually he was diagnosed but it was too late.

  29. Sorry for your sudden loss. She's a beautiful looking lady and person. Hopefully her legacy will include awareness of the disease and her situation. I used to care for a uncle with Parkinson's and can relate to the ups and downs. I'm sure she is very happy where she is right now. May her memory and legacy be eternal.
