I'm Not in the Crowds Today!!!

NOTE: I will announce the winner of the Comment / Link RAK later tonight. Click here to enter.

My son was out the door at 3:30 am. Of course he did not leave quietly, so I've been awake since then. I'm getting reports from him of large crowds and great deals. Most of my gifts are going to be crafted so I don't have to fight the crowds or traffic. I wonder is this an American phenomena or is it worldwide? Someone leave a comment and let us know.
Thanksgiving was fun. In enjoyed my family, the turkey and all the fixin's. I especially had fun working off my dinner playing with my Granddaughter. She had a bit of Dr. Pepper and the caffeine set in. This four year old fire ball worked me out. I LOVED it. She makes my heart beat a little faster.
I have not posted any projects in a bit because I was working on my Advent Calendar. I was so inspired by the Fiskars Design Team that I decided to make my own advent calendar using their ideas and putting my twist to it. If you have not checked out there project of the day you are really missing out. Fiskars Project of the Day.
Okay no laughing at the sewing. It's been years since I've tried anything like this, but I'm glad I tried. I found the material at Hancock's Fabric and purchased everything for a little more than $7.00. WOW!
I used a Pinking Blade on my Fiskars Rock Paper Trimmer to cut out each square and my Fiskars Pinking Shears to cut out the quilting background. I laid out the squares, pinned on and sewed them down with gold thread. I used my Ranger Stickles to add glitter to each square. I punched out my "countdown" inserts with Fiskars Don't Leave Me Hangin' Squeeze Punch. Attached each day with a ribbon and a glass pearl bead. Added trim and some snow flakes with Fiskars Squeeze Punch "A Total Flake" and Cloud Nine Rain Dots.
Personally I love it. Of course the kids (grown kids) told me I had to put a piece of chocolate in each pocket. I wonder if one will be enough. LOL
Tell me, did it turn out okay?
I have to spend some time checking out the scrappy news today and see some new and exciting projects. I will tell you that Tim Holtz and Wendy Vecchi announced some cool news yesterday. Check out either blog (links to the right).
Everyone have a safe day. Let me know what kind of deals you picked up today. Don't forget Cyber Monday will have great deals too.

  2. Debby,
I was home from the madhouse by 7:00am. I made 3 stops. Now I am avoiding the stores and instead we are putting up Christmas.

I love your advent calendar. I really should make one for our family. Maybe if I start a list of ideas and then work on them in the summer when I am off, I will get things done.
