Christmas in July and A BIG DARE

We are having Christmas in July. At the end of the month I’m hosting a Charity Crop for Toys for Tots. All the crafters will be bringing a gift for us to donate to the local Toys for Tots. I’m always busy at Christmas time and often don’t have what I would like to give. July is designated on Debby’s Dare as Christmas in July! Before my children hit me up for Christmas presents I’m will be purchasing Christmas for those in need.

Here is YOUR Month Long DARE: Help our children. Volunteer to read at the Library or children’s hospital. Give a gift to Toys for Tots. Host a crafting party for children. Make cards to send to children that are in hospitals during Christmas. Be a Secret Santa to a child in need during the month of July. What ever you can imagine that would help our children you do it…I DARE YOU.

The Dare opens today and closes on August 1st.

Share your story on this post. If you have a layout or photos of what you are doing post your link (2 chances to win).

I have two prize packages that are nearly identically. One is an overall random drawing. The other is for the most creative opportunity a crafter participated in that helped a child.

I will use the Random.org to choose a winner. Make sure to tell your friends on your blog, email, LSS, Facebook and Twitter. Share the passion of a Crafter that Cares!

  4. I'm not sure if this is the right comment part to put this in but I made 3 pillowcases for the ConKerr Cancer group. I mailed them off last Friday to a lady in Seattle who will distribute them at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital in Seattle. I posted a picture in my Fiskateer gallery.

  7. Of course Conkerr is a great cause, and I made a total of 7 pillowcases this week.

I will be driving them down to a drop off site after i return from Texas.

I also volunteered to sew for others, I have some women bringing fabric to Texas to send home for pillowcases and pledges from a few more to make them for Conkerr....spreading the word and love is what it is all about!

    What a great RAK Debby!
You know I had to try!! I LOVE that trimmer.

I also did my first public speaking event for child abuse survivors and protecting our children at the local grade school.

I love that this dare revolves around children because they are our future( I know cliche) but it is true and they need to be cherished and protected~!

Why you ask? Because this is what I live for...what is the purpose of life if you cannot help others?
Everything I went through and endured in life would be meaningless unless I give back and help others who can use the love, caring and maybe even a little inspiration, knowing that someone else survived and made it.

That is pretty much why I involve myself in any charitable event.
If your not helping, then what is the point?

Thanks for the chance ~Pinky #3405

  8. My story behind making the pillowcases for the ConKerr Cancer group is a pretty simple one.
I am grateful that I have my health, & that i don't need to worry about where my next meal is coming from. I wholeheartedly believe in giving back. If I'm able to bring a smile to the face of an ill child simply by purchasing some material & spending a little time sewing that's worth everything.

I will be mailing them off on Tuesday, July 7th. I love to sew so this is a fun way to give to a very worthy cause.

sounds like fun Debby, the least I could do is read a story, to our preschool children who are in the kindergarden all summer long, but since you don't ship internationally, I guess i'm out.. we also made cards with our 8 to 10 year old school girls 3 days a go, they had so much fun.. anyways.. I understand why you can't ship out here, to darn expensive, a millioaire couldn't afford it.. Thanks Mariah

  11. I tie-dyed with 19 kids yesterday and we had a blast. I was too busy DURING the project to take photos but did get a few after the fact and hope to have some pix of the kids IN their shirts as well. We finish up next week adding iron-on's to them.

    Debbie,

How and where do we post what we did?

I went through my "Bear Collection" and donated 35 new bears to the Aiken Police
Department. They give them to children in car accidents.
