Scripture Challenge, Word 3

The Scripture Challenge this past week is based on the word Abide. When I thought of Abide or Abiding my mind went straight to the thought of Whom I Abide. I wanted to search out the character of God. I want to know the character and nature of the He who I Abide.

My first thought was the old Hymn by Martin Luther written around 1527: “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God.” The description of God in these verses and knowing of the persecution and hardships Luther was experiencing is mind boggling that He was able to pen these words. The very character of God is brought out in these verses.

The song is based on Psalms 46 and following.

God is our refuge and strength A very present help in trouble.
There we will not fear, thought the earth should change
And thought the mountains slip into the heart of the sea;
Though it’s waters road and foam Though the mountains quakes at its swelling pride.

Although I am shakable God is that Fortress that is impenetrable in my walk in this life. In my life it means when relationships, health, circumstance overwhelm me I am secure in God and not in myself. I can’t depend on myself because of my weaknesses to abide in God, but rather I depend on God and His Character, Nature and His Word to protect me, abide in me and cause me to be safe and assured in Who He is.

Here is my ATC for the word Abide.

Update:
The Yard Sale was fun. I think we bought as much as we made! The people I met and enjoyed was encouraging. I loved visiting with old friends and making some new friends.

I met a woman who makes crochet necklaces. They are so beautiful. She gifted me this one. I’m going to try and add a pendant to the necklace.

Thanks to those who participated and those who came and could not help themselves to shop.
