Memorial Weekend Begins

Let me remind you at the start of my blog post about the Dare Ya! (challenge) “Cards You’ve Been Dealt.” One name will be randomly drawn for a Letterpress Starter Kit from Quickutz. Click and check out the details.

Memorial Day weekend. Around here it’s when public access to the lake opens and the lake beach will be crowded with picnickers and swimmers. Family’s will be grilling and playing games. Fun * Cameras * Memories to scrap.

Tomorrow I’m participating in a blog hop entitled “Operation Write Hope Blog Hop.” Lots of card makers are participating and there will be many opportunities to win a bit of blog candy. I’m excited to honor our men and women who have given the best of life for my freedom.

My father was career Air Force. My son Jacob plans on making the Air Force his career. As a child of a serviceman I loved my childhood. Meeting new people, seeing new places, experiencing what most never get to experience. Mostly I grew up very patriotic and with great respect for my country. As a mom of a future serviceman my heart stops as this weekend we remember those who gave their lives. I’m proud that Jacob wants to protect this country and all that he loves.

Here is a layout of my Dad in his early years (and one of my earlier layouts) and here is two of Jacob on his special night at the Awards Banquet and Military Ball for JROTC.

In all your fun take a moment to remember!
