Welcome Katrina Hunt

Help me welcome the last member of heART of Scrapbooking's Design Team, Queen of heART Katrina Hunt.

"Hi! I am Katrina and I live in Midwest USA! I am currently owned by three Cardigan Welsh Corgis, who appear in my layouts from time to time! I’m a full-time office worker by day and crafter by night. I’ve discovered as an adult that I love to create and craft. I was never the artsy type while growing up, unless you count cutting my doll’s hair. I have been scrapbooking since February 2009, when I decided to make a mini album for a friend. I discovered that I loved it! Well, let’s just say after that I went a little nuts with the paper, scissors, and glue. I love color, the more the better. To define my style is hard, as I do what makes me happy. I like to scrap everyday life and things.

How is it that you come to have a heART for Scrapbooking?

Ok, I am sure this is going to sound really crazy, but it’s true. You know the saying…'never say never'? well, I had always been one that thought I would NEVER scrapbook! I always laughed at the 'rolling tote' ladies that I would see. And I would see all the stuff in Michael’s and think…WOW…do they really need ALL that stuff???

Now, this isn’t to say that I didn’t like “crafty” things. I have always like to take pictures…and yeah….they weren’t really good ones! And, I loved to cross-stitch and had quite the collection! I even worked part time at the local store to for fun (the discount was nice too!) on Saturdays. My stitching hobby came to a standstill when puppies entered the household.

Fast forward a few years….now we are entering the dog hobby area! There are 3 dogs that currently reside in the house….Cardigan Welsh Corgis to be exact. Big dog personality in a short dog body! Two of the dogs are certified to do pet therapy visits with a local group in my town. We currently go to the children’s floor at a local hospital and to an Alzheimer’s unit once a month. Thru dog activities, I met my friend Nikki. We also served on the board together for the pet therapy group.

During our term, Nikki told me that she was 'starting' her own business. I could tell she was really excited about it. The thing was that it was a SCRAPBOOKING business….actually a manufacturing business designing paper, etc. (YES, you know her as Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker!) So, there began the curiosity of what was this all about. I have watched Nikki’s company grow and it’s so exciting to be in on the ground floor of something. I am so proud of her and so blessed that it was she that introduced me to this wonderful, fun art form!

Then, I decided I wanted to make a mini album for a friend for her birthday. Ha ha…silly me thought I could get it done in a couple of days. ;) So, I got a $2.00 trimmer, some big ole scissors, paper scrap bags and a mini album from the local scrapbooking store, and some items I found on clearance (stamps, etc). And I started on the mini…I soon realized that I NEEDED (hee hee) tools, paper, ink, ribbons, stamps, more paper, more ribbon, paint, etc to use! And that is how it started! AND it took me a good week to get that mini done!

I am doing this to be creative, have fun, and express myself. And no, I do not journal on every layout…but I can look at the picture and know what I was feeling at that point and time. Scrapbooking is an outlet for my creativity and it makes me HAPPY! And that is what is most important in life…Being Happy!

And yes….I am one of those 'rolling tote' ladies now!! I usually have to make three trips to get all my stuff into a crop!!!"
