Queen of heARTS Katrina Hunt

Hi!!  It’s my first post!!

Hey everyone, its Katrina here and this is my first “official” post for the heArt of Scrapbooking!    I have a couple of projects to share with you, a layout and a card.

First of all, let’s say Debby’s name for her blog, Debby’s Dare, is fitting to say the least. She put me to the test!  If you have seen any of my prior work, I am about bright, shabby chic, and funky.  Well, when I got my materials to design with…there was Graphic 45!  I knew it was coming, she had told me, so I had been trying to figure out what I was going to do with it!

So, I created the following layout.  Now, I am not a “perfect” measure kind of girl…I just eyeball it and go with it.  So, my projects don’t have any measurements, but you can pretty much figure out how to eyeball them!

A little tip….I ALWAYS layout my design before adhering anything down.  So, I had this all planned and then moved everything and sprayed the top half with some Smooch Spritz.  Another tip…make sure you have the sprayer pointing to your paper…. someone ended up with a little spritz on themselves!  Hee hee

I cut full 12-inch long strips (usually about 1 inch to 1.25 inches wide), lots of strips.  Then I took my Fiskars border punch and punched each strip the length of it.  I made sure to choose papers that had contrast, because you want each strip to show up.   I then folded them over the edge of my table…to give them some lift and dimension.

Then you just start layering them from the bottom up.  Adhere only the top edge down, because you want the decorative edge to kind of stand up.   If you don’t like a lot of dimension you could just leave the decorative edge down, but you will want to pick papers that contrast a lot, so that you can see the detail.

I then took a length of ribbon, laid it along the top of the last border strip going up, and then stapled it with the ends folded behind the cardstock.  I took a smaller piece of ribbon tied a knot and attached it to my length of ribbon…I just get nicer looking bows that way.

Then I stamped some elements on the pattern paper and cut out around them.  Pop dotted them up…the bicycle is popped on one of the frames from one of the G45 sheets.  Added my title and journaling and poofff….I was done!!!

Next is my card and I had to add some bright color, just for me!  And it’s from my scraps of my layout!!

Hope you enjoyed all my projects!!!  Be sure to check out the “heArt of Scrapbooking” store and pick up your goodies to create with!!!!

Have a Scrappy Kind of Day!!~~Katrina

  9. Both of your projects turned out great! You used my favorite border punch. Would have never known you weren't comfortable with these colors if you hadn't said so.
