Christmas Gift Card Holder

I've spent the last three days in traffic, eating Christmas Tree cakes, drinking Starbucks' Carmel Brulee Latte, going to church, wrapping presents, spending time with my children, but most of all a wonderful time with my husband.  He works and rarely takes time off.  Jim took the last three days off and I feel like we've gone to Hawaii and back, without the warm weather.  LOL  I'm blessed with my family!!

After Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas was over I felt bummed.  LOL I was reading Wendy Vecchi's blog, Studio 490, and she had posted a fun tag created to be a gift CASH holder from a #8 Tag.  Whoo Hoo I was excited.  I pulled out all my inks and stamps and proceeded to make three Gift Cash Tags.  Just like Wendy said, after the first one they are easy.

I wanted to make this same style tag for a gift CARD holder but the #8 Tag is too small.  So like all good crafters you figure it out.

I have 9" x 12" Manila "tag" paper.  I make all my #8 tags.  I purchase mine at Hobby Lobby.  100 sheets for $7.99.  I still have more tags to make, so as time grows short I'm going to use two sided, Christmas, cardstock quality, scrapbook paper.  I'll be using Graphic 45's Christmas line to keep in the shabby chic mode.

The original project, by Wendy Vecchi, is here at Studio 490.  Here are my adjustments to the tag.

Cut your tag 3 1/8" wide x 8 1/2" long.

I use Fiskars Chip Off the Ole' Block squeeze punch to make my corners.  Fiskars hole punch and Tim Holtz's Design Ruler to make my hole at the top of the tag.

Score 1 1/2 " from the bottom.

Score 3 1/8" from the top.

If you are using a pattern paper just turn up the bottom at the score line.  Put a thin line of Glossy Accents on the right and left side of the bottom flap.  Fold it over.  Add your ribbon and you are finished with your Gift Card Tag!  FYI:  I turned my tags to use a "book" style for my tag.

Now if you want to have fun stamping and inking and more check out Wendy's blog post to see how she got all those different stamps on this little ole' tag.

My tags card/cash holders are going on my tree they are so wonderful.  Thanks Wendy for keeping me going in tags and ink!
