1959 Was a Very Good Year!

I have been fortunate that my dad loved photography.  He left our family a legacy of memories and documentation of his life and ours.  Dad's older photos are some of my favorite to scrapbook.

The Story
Since my daughter is about to have her baby I thought I would look up what Dad recorded of my birth.  While I was searching his albums I found that Dad loved taking pictures of Mom when she was pregnant with Me.  I love this particular series of photos of my mom and "me."

The Layout
Lessons Learned
  • Creating a design like "building blocks" is challenging but I adore the effect.
  • Masks are so much fun.  The masks by Prima are fantastic.  I won a whole Prima packet of new products during the online madness of CHA.  These masks are a bit heavier in weight and beautifully designed.  My favorite thing about these masks are when you spray your favorite mist on the mask it DOES NOT run off the mask.  It gave me the opportunity to mist and turn it over to "stamp" without it going all over the place.  (note:  if you drench the mask it will run)  They also have this wonderful guide at the bottom.  Why didn't I think of this one?  LOL
  • You can "pop" a page by using a silhouette.  The humming bird is a squeeze punch by Fiskars.  I'm totally in love with this delicate little bird and look forward to using it a lot during the spring and summer.
  • White space is a little harder to create.  When you have a whole page to fill, for me, it's easier.  When you limit yourself to a smaller space to tell the story is causes you to think a bit more and be a touch more creative.
  • Mom's cool!
I love this year of taking the TIME to learn new techniques and styles with my scrapbooking and crafting in general.

Have a wonderfully crafty day!
