What I Learned
This is just a quickie today.
- I love handcrafted flower but it is still in my learning zone I've committed to this year. I created these flowers based on a tutorial by Hilde Janbroers-Stolk. Hilde's flowers turned out much better than mine, but they were fun to make. Next time I will opt for a smaller flower and not so many layers.
- Placing a pre-made flower on the lowest layer makes an overall difference in how the flower looks. It seems like an anchor for the flower.
- I'm in love with Ranger's Tim Holtz Distress Stains. They are easy, can do many of the techniques in a faster time, and just way cool. I used Antique Linen and Fired Brick.
- I'm using more and more of my "older" stash. It's a great way to use it up. Makes a good excuse to buy more.

I have been a follower of yours for a long time under the name buckskinbelle through google. Great info on using something on the lowest layer to anchor your project! It makes sense. I would finally make a card that you have to color with markers. I don't have the best quality ones so I am leary of trying this. Copics are a little intimidating to me so winning would get me to be adventurous!
ReplyDeletei love your photo and project!!!
ReplyDeletewhat a lovely page--I love how you used the distress products! I love using my Copics to color images for cards so that is what I would do with yours!
ReplyDeleteI thnk you did a great job on the flowers!! the LOis beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteI love your layout and your flowers, great job Debby! Thanks for the chance to win some Copics!
ReplyDeleteIf I had some Copics I would use them to color in all my stamped images!
ReplyDeleteAlready a follower - so here I am!! I would first probably should take a class and learn to use Copics!! And then I would color and color and color - I've got some freshly stamped spring flower images that need color!
ReplyDeleteI am already a follower - what GORGEOUS flowers on that creative page layout - very beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI have shared your link on my FB page! Will send my crafty friends your way!
ReplyDeleteI do not own even ONE copic marker - if I were lucky enough to be your winner, I would definitely take a copics class and learn how to color like a pro - right now my coloring competes only with my 3 year old grandson's (grin).
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway and thank you for the opportunity! If I were to win, these markers will help me get my rear back in gear in regards to stamping. I sort of fell off the wagon and needed a pick-me-up to start coloring and making cards again.

ReplyDeleteI would use the Copic marker with my stamps first, as I see everyone else doing..then I would try them to change the colors of my flowers, embellishments, and metal pieces parts. I guess I need to find out what it's all about! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteAlready a follower debby.....thank you for the wonderful giveaway!

ReplyDeletebeautiful layout debby - love all the great details (even the staples are strategically placed)
ReplyDeleteI tweeted about your giveaway @craftysuz
ReplyDeleteBTW to answer question - I have about 15 markers. Just starting to build a collection of colors I use often & buy different shades to get the blended effect & not just pretty single colors.
Ooooh I love leaving this comment!!! I've recently gotten into copics and card making. I went and bought myself 10 copics. The colours, unfortunately don't do together well. lol I thought I should get all different ones to have a variety. Obviously I know differently now. lol Oh well. Live and learn. So I'm in desperate need of copics. LOVE my copics.
ReplyDeleteI am already a follwer!!

ReplyDeleteI am a follower - just not much lately as life has really been crazy for us! Too much going on to even turn the computer on, except to make sure the bills are paid! Nice to see this post on my first day of looking around for quite some time!
ReplyDeleteI've been following you since you started this blog...and I have to say that I adore all of your projects...I'd love for you to stop by my blog sometime too... http://tqmnurse.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteCopics...they seem to be all of the rage ....I have yet to try any of them...but I definitely have a couple of projects in mind...specifically for my new grandson....
ReplyDeleteWhat a great give away Debby! I thought I was already a follower, but I guess I just keep clicking from the Fiskateers board. So, I am now officially a follower.
ReplyDeleteIt feels funny to leave another comment, but I want every chance to win. LOL! I learned to use Copic Markers over a year ago and have the air system I need to air brush. BUT... I just got my first marker a week ago. I hope to get a few more colors (and your six are perfect) so I can work on flowers, sunsets and sky, clothing and cars, you name it. I have over a thousand stamps that need coloring.
ReplyDeleteI love your layout and I think your flowers are excellent. Thanks for the notes on what you learned.
Debby, I am now a follower of your blog; actually, I thought I already was, wink!
ReplyDeleteDebby, thank you for this generous give away. I just retweeted this on twitter for all of you followers to see at @ replied it to you! I love your creations!
ReplyDeleteI did a post of linking back to your blog here: http://number1aunt.blogspot.com/2011/03/debbys-dare-handmade-flowers-and-week.html
ReplyDeleteI forgot to tell you how beautiful I think your flowers are! You are so good at using different techniques with such good results! I haven't used distress stain yet, but I am sure it is something that will find the way to my table!
What would I do with the Copics? First I know a lot of practice would be involved...but I love to color stamped images. It is very relaxing to me. Right now I use Prisma pencils an OMS, which works well. But, I know the Copics would be much better. I have not bought even one, because I know that once I get one, I will need six :-)
ReplyDeleteI am a follower. I don't own any
ReplyDeleteCopics but have been dying to get some.
Hi Debby ... Marianne - Fiskateer sent me over and I'm glad she did. I am a new follower. I have about 20 Copics and enjoy using them very much. I would love an opportunity to win more!
ReplyDeleteThinking about it after I saw your post and trying to recall how many I have, I think what I will do next is get the list of all of the colors and then put a dot of the ink of the color next to the ones I own. Every once in a while, when I come across them, I don't know if I already have that color (and so many are close enough to each other that memory doesn't work best). If I had a pocket-card of colors I could purchase more wisely.

I only have a few Copics, but I am a Certified Copic Designer. I think I would take more time to play with my new bundles of joy and blend, blend, blend!
ReplyDeleteGreat Giveaway Debby. I am already a follower. Thanks for the chance
ReplyDeleteHugs, Rosalee #5977
I have just linked your giveaway to my blog sidebar.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Rosalee #5977
Hi again Debby...lol.
ReplyDeleteI would use the copics for coloring my Magnolia and WOJ stamped images. Coloring them with copics makes them look beautiful and I don't have any colors to blend with...so these would be wonderful if I won them. Thanks again for the great chances
Hugs, Rosalee #5977
Love your blog! I would add these fab colors to my stash of Ciaos and have a blast coloring away this weekend!
