Lucky
As part of my learning curve and stretching my scrapbooking I decided to use pre-made die cuts.  Usually I don't.  Yes, I do have a Circut Imagine but I've used it predominately on projects and not on layouts.  I prefer to make my own.  For me it is more satisfying.  Now just because I don't use them doesn't mean I don't buy them.  LOL  They look wonderful with the matching paperline.  This layout is made from Little Yellow Bicycle.

The Story
This is my newest granddaughter and me.  She is 14 days old and has stolen my heart completely.  This was the day before St. Patrick's Day.  With a bit of the Irish in us we love to celebrate our heritage.  This is Little Honey's first St. Patrick's Day.  Mom dressed her in her greens.  When she has the entire outfit on she has a cute bow to match and a button that says "Irish in Training!"

The Layout
Things I Learned
  • Die cuts can be totally fun to distress, cut up, and in general use them differently. I layered two die cuts on top of each other in a very non-traditional way. I inked them with Tim Holtz Pumice Distress Ink around the edges to give them a bit more distinction.
  • I cut the ends of one die cut giving me the beautiful element I used around the photo. Again I inked it up.
  • I cut my clover from a sheet of Little Yellow Bicycle's paper. I coated it with Tim Holtz Distress Rock Candy Crackle Paint. As it dried it curled up. I finished drying it with my embossing heat tool. I played with the clover by bending it and making the paint crackle even more. I inked the crackle and edges with TH Vintage Photo Distress Ink. This turned out very cool.
  • I love a splash a white on a colorful page. It adds balance and is eye-catching. I used Impression Obsession, a cling-backed background stamp with Ranger's Snow Cap Dabber. The lines on the stamp are pretty defined and I wanted a more unfinished look. With the Dabber I was able to control where I put my ink. This allowed me to stamp with a distressed look.
  • I made my buttons from clear buttons and one of the pages from Lucky paperline.
  • I'm trying to use up my older stash so I really don't know where the tag came from.

I had a lot of fun creating this layout.  Then again it's easy with my granddaughter as my inspiration.
Have a Crafty Day!

  12. Debby, it's a beautiful layout! Aren't you just the proud Grandma :D Love how you shared using the cutouts, sometimes it seems like I get stuck thinking I can't cut them apart or do anything to them. Now I can see them in a different light :)
