Wall Art, Winners Announced

I mentioned last week I was working on creating what is now looking like a gallery of layouts of my family for my dinning room. I would love to share some of the layouts/wall art with you this week.

The Story
My daughter had a photo booth at her wedding. They had brought hats, boas, and other fun stuff. This series of photos are of my oldest son and his wife. My son has an incredible sense of humor and his face lights up when he know you have fall for the trick or joke. What's fun is to see his daughter become just like him.

The Layout

What I Learned
  • I often hear scrapbookers express they are not sure how they would use designs like you find with Graphic 45. The "front" of G45 is the vintage art. The "back" often has a beautiful print. I loved using the "back" for this layout.
  • Using a pattern background page and layering other pattern pieces makes the layout look like it has more layers.
  • If you have too much of something you can never find what you want. I ended up spending about an hour looking for my Tim Holtz ribbon. It was right were I put it.
  • I am addicted to making these rosettes. This time I cut my 12 inch strip and punched the outer edge with Fiskars scallop border punch. It really makes the rosette look finished.
  • The center of the rosette is made with Epiphany Crafts Shape Studio. it is incredible to make your own epoxy embellishments.
  • I've had the Imginisce I-rock Crystal Heat-setting Tool... For awhile now, but never took the time to use it. I figured that it would take some trial and error to learn how to use it. Well, I was working away with it within minutes. I created the circle around the epoxy embellishment just minutes!
  • I love all types of metal embellishments. The charms are from Epiphany crafts. I added a number 14 circle epoxy with the paper of my choosing.
  • IDEA:  This I did not do, but I am going to give it a shot next layout.  The top right hand side of the photos has Vintage Street Market's designer tape.  Why not make your own?  Use Scrapbooking Tape (mine is by Scotch), pull off what you need, tape it to a craft mat (I use Ranger's), then stamp your image onto the tape using either Stazon Ink or Rangers Archival Ink.  If you use Ranger's ink give it a few minutes to dry.  I love it.
  • Buying old alphabets pay off.  Back at the infamous Scrapbooking Yardsale I purchased a pack that included these "old days" Chatterbox alphas.  This was during a time before 7gypsies. They matched Graphic 45's paper perfect.  FYI:  Early in my Scrapbooking career I used Melody Ross's Chatterbox product like I do Graphic 45's today.

My grandson just graduated 6th grade and I was so proud of him. He is Autistic and he walk up with the whole 6th grade class. He does not like groups of people but he never missed a step.

....I thought I would cry during my Grandson's graduation but I found I was to busy taking pictures to cry.     http://jude307.blogspot.com/ (drawn from a list of those who could not post here for one reason or the other).

Congratulations!  Send your snail mail address to DebbysDare@gmail.com.  Place what you won in your subject line.

Thanks to everyone who left comments.  I am going to get back to making Debby's Dare demo.  Starting with sharing great stuff about Epiphany Crafts Shape Studio.  I'm also thankful that you enjoy and are inspired by my personal gratitude list.  Often they are a bit cryptic because of the personal nature.  You know it encouraged me beyond belief for those comments that mentioned my work.  When you are in a house of non-crafty men it is often few and far between.  Although my DIL has been very encouraging.

Here is my favorite photo from graduation:
A fun family tradition...silly string the graduate!

Have a Crafty Day!
