April D's Paper Studio Challenge, Sponsored Giveaway by Making Memories

Welcome to April and a new Challenge.  Our generous sponsor this month is Making Memories.  In looking back at the beginnings of my scrapbook world I believe Making Memories products were some of the first I ever purchased.  I still use their paper piercer I purchased  8 or so years ago.

True confessions time in light of "Authentic Life, Authentic Paper Art."  I won a Slice die cutting machine from Making Memories when it first came out.  I used it a bit and even purchased the embossing and drawing add ons.  I'm such a snob for cutting things by hand that I really didn't put the effort into learning much about what it would do.  Before this week I never used the drawing or embossing tools.  This month I've personally challenged myself to learn all I can about my die cut machine and make the use of it in my style.

This is my sister back in the early 80's I believe.

Paper Collection from Making Memories Chloe's Closet.

I used a library card sleeve to add a bit of splash.  The flowers are hand cut from CC.  The star, and  "attitude" word were cut from Making Memories' Slice.  "Proud" was drawn using the Slice.

I created a journal spot using the Slice and added my journaling with Making Memories tiny alpha.

Close up of the word "proud" I made with the Slice.  The buttons, ribbon, cork letters, Slice cut title, are all Making Memories.

Other ingredients:  Prima flowers, American Crafts flower ribbon, Ranger's Perfect Pearls (spritzed on the flower ribbon) Tim Holtz Distress inks Vintage Photo and Wild Honey.

April Challenge
How about challenging yourself.  Whether it is a tool or technique you've been wanting to learn more about, set aside time during the month of April to learn.  Create a project/layout with what you learned.  Leave a comment about what you learned with a link to your project here on this post.  Making Memories has donated this incredible prize pack.  From the entries Random.org will draw a name at the end of the month.

In the midst of all these awesome goodies is a Slice Desktop Unit.  If you don't have a Slice you can certainly use it for other organizational items for your scrapbook table.  Thank you Making Memories for your generous prize pack!

Please note that you must have a US address to be eligible.

  7. I worked on learning how to use the Silhouette Cameo, which I'm still a little afraid of. ;) I used it in a project I've never tried before - making drink coasters. I totally love the way they turned out, especially with the Silhouette shapes! Totally worth learning something new for this.
