I Had a Brain Storm...Altered Art Scrapbooking

I totally love to go antiquing or as Connie says "junkin'."   While I was in Florida I saw something in an antique shop that got the creative side of my brain turning.  I looked at a couple of shops back here in South Carolina and didn't find exactly what I was looking for. My friend Ruth gave me a call and said let's go and I said Yes!

I told Ruth what I was looking for and I finally found it, matter-of-fact I found a whole booth full of what I wanted.  But the price for this item ran from 8 dollars for the one I really didn't want to 20.00 for the one I really wanted.  I decided to pass and was very disappointed.  We hit up the next shop that neither of us had been to before.  Now this place had some real vintage and antique items.  As we were going from one room to the next through what was once a closet I saw something of what I wanted, on floor, under the last shelf, no light and way to the back.  I'm down on my hands and knees going through everything and tada this was the one .....  the price is perfect for my experiment... $3.00.

If you are still reading....LOL  I wanted to alter, using mixed media arts, an old record album Album.  This album has three sleeves, three albums, making six pages and a cover to alter.  I think I can.

Cheryl Waters, a mixed media expert and Craft Ambassador for Fiskars, was host a mix media challenge with tutorials and the challenges at the Fiskateer Community.  Each challenge was for a tag, but I decided to make an altered page for each challenge.

Note:  This is a 1949 album of 78 LP Records.  I would not get another shot at the page if I messed up.

The album will eventually go to my oldest granddaughter who this is about.

I'd like to share my work over the next week and along with my adventures in creating this altered record album Album.

Cover
Ingredients:  Lutradur Mixed Media Sheets; Ali Edwards Stamp; Fiskars Asian Inspired Stamps; Bo Bunny Serenity: Ephipany Crafts epoxy caps; Vintage Photo, Red Brick, Antique Linen, and Peacock Feathers Distress Ink; Antique Linen Distress Embossing Powder; white acrylic paint; Ranger Enamel Accents; Spellbinder Classic Scalloped circles.
Lutradur...Thanks to Lisa Fulmer  I'm hooked on Lutradur.  It's a white fabric-paper medium.  Your best shot is to watch Cool2Craft episode about with Lisa about Lutradur.   I cut my Lutradur in strips.  Patted my Peacock and Antique Linen inks on my craft mat, spritzed it with water, and ran my Lutradur through it.  Without even knowing what I was doing I sprinkled on some Distress Embossing powder and heated everything up.  I wove everything together and whew it turned out okay.

What I Learned:  watch a few videos before you start something new, not afterwards.  LOL

I used Aleene's Fabric Tac to adhere the Lutradur.

My flower is the Lutradur as well.  I used a Spellbinder die Classic Scalloped circles to cut out two of each 3 sizes. I attached all the layers together with a straight pin through the center.  Holding the pin/flower I heated the Lutradur with my heat gun.  I heated my flower until it started to crinkle, melt in small parts and fluffed up.  It's the perfect flower for scrapbooking...dimensional but not too thick.  I love it.

This is just the front cover...the inside explodes with color, mediums, and techniques.  I'm already "over time" so I'll save the next page for Friday.   FYI:  I used Jenni's new tools in the inside of my album.

Leave a comment and you will be in the drawing at the end of the month for the Jenni Bowlin's Studio giveaway here on D's Paper Studio.  See the details here .....  D's Paper Studio Challenge for June.  With your comment today would you give a shout out on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, a message board, a blog, or just use it as an excuse to call a friend and  let them know what's up here on D's Paper Studio...not required for a giveaway of course...just to do.  Thanks.
