What Do You See? page 6

It's the last page and I want to start over and do it again!  This has been some incredible fun.

I wanted to do a monochromatic page but it not quite work out that way.  It is certainly something I am going to have to learn more about.

My base was created from Molding Paste by Golden Artist Colors.  I know little about the different paint mediums, but this was a fun one to work with.

(Photos of this page look crocked and the photo is as I can't take the page out of the book...
but the elements are straight.)

Ingredients:   Molding Paste; Fiskars Asian Inspired Stamps; Jenni Bowlin's Grandma's Doily punch; Maya Road chipboard letters, Dymo Label Maker; Ranger's Archival Ink Red; Tim Holtz paper tape; Imaginsce pearls; white acrylic paint; Magic Mesh; ribbon; rick rack.

I added the musical score paper tape to both corners of the page.  I painted the entire page in a white wash I made with a good acrylic paint and water.  Using Magic Mesh as a stencil I painted over the mesh with the Molding Paste.  I didn't cover the whole page just in several areas.  I lifted off the Magic Mesh and let it dry overnight.  The area of the molding paste actually rose a bit to give it dimension.  I stamped the the corners with the Asian Inspired stamp.

I used Imaginisce's i-rock, a hot fix / heat setting tool for i-rock embellishments.  I started with the inner circle and worked my way outwards to make the three circles around the middle hole from the actual record album sleeve.  This is certainly a fun tool to play with and help to make a great "frame" for the photo.

I added three layers of ribbon / rick rack.

I made these stars / flowers from Fiskars' Jenni Bowlin Grandma's Doily.  I just took it a step further than the actually work of the punch.  This is what the punch does...

I took it a step futher and used my Fiskars Mico-tip scissors to just quickly snip around the design to release a beautiful flower.  I'll create a short tutorial for this next week.  It is really easy and quick.

I added my title/journaling with a mix of the label maker and chipboard letters.

The challenge from the Fiskateer mixed media event was to do something with a window.  The center of the record album sleeve was a natural of this one.  I added a photo of my granddaughter looking out over the ocean while in Jamaica on a mission trip helping to build temporary housing for those displaced by the earthquake in Haiti.

It was a great journey and learning experience.  I would do it again in a flash.  I hope you had a bit of fun with me.

The end of the month is coming soon.  Remember to leave a comment to be in the drawing for the $20.00 giveaway from Jenni Bowlin Studios.   I'm still trying to reach that magic number commenter in order to giveaway a Fiskars Jenni Bowlin border punch.

Have a Crafty Weekend!

  11. When I try to use this many techniques it's like I just piled stuff on the page. I'm getting slightly more comfortable with mixed media, but I'll NEVER match this. Beautiful!
