Seriously? Pigskin Poets? More Summer Layouts

I'm always on the look out for something unique for my granddaughter, Little Honey, to do.  The story on this one goes something like this...

I read that the local library was hosting the University of South Carolina Gamecock football team to read to the children and sign autographs.

LH's dad and mom are graduates from USC and my son is a Gamecock so this is a big deal.

With LH's dad's birthday coming up why not a football signed by one of the top college teams?

The kicker was that I found out about it at 8:30 am and it started at 10:30 am.  We arrived and Mimi worked herself, LH, and Uncle Jacob to the front of the room.

LH went nuts over Cocky (mascot) and the cheerleaders.  16 months old, dressed in her USC cheerleader outfit, she was cheering her heart out.  One side cheered "Game" and while LH's side of the room cheered "Cocks."

LH joined in the games and fun with the football players and other kids.

The most fun was the football music.  She would just dance and dance.  While waiting to meet the players she was up on the stage/platform just dancing when she caught the attention of one of the cheerleaders.  She came over and started dancing and cheering with LH.  LH reached over and gently took the pom poms and started cheering for "Gamecocks" and dancing.  LOL  The media had a blast and several news outlets took photos as well as Mimi taking a bunch.

We met the players and she would throw her hands in the air and tell them "touchdown" as they signed her daddy's football.

Although she won't really remember what a great time she had, I hope the scrapbook page and her Mimi's story reminds her of a special fun day she had.

(Small photo of LH and cheerleader is by Paul Collins, from Gamecock Central (dot) com.)

Ingredients:  Moxxie paper collection; Believe stamp Wendy Vecchi's Studio 490; Jenni Bowlin round alphas, American Crafts Thickers, 123 stamp, and radiant beam on journaling Tim Holtz; Inks from Tim Holtz Distress Ink vintage photo, Ranger Archival black, crimson, Ranger Picket Fence paint dabber; Ranger tinted embossing ink and clear embossing powder;

Two fun techniques
I stamped the word "believe" three times with three different colors, cut them a part and reassembled for a nice collage.

I stamped the radiant beams with tinted embossing ink and used clear embossing powder.  I painted the entire journaling card with Picket Fence paint.  I used a heat tool to dry the paint.  I then placed the card between several sheets of newspaper and used my iron to melt off the embossing.  It kept the tinted form of the stamp while melting away the embossing.  I ran it through my computer afterwards with the journaling.  It turned out very cool.

Again, a muti-photo layout, but with a few artsy techniques.

Have A Crafty Day!
