Welcome, Melissa Priest!

Hello! I am so honored to be here today! My name is Melissa and I am a simple (and colorful!) scrapper and I wanted to share a new layout using the Gossamer Blue March Kit.

This past August, my teenage boys went to live with their dad. It has been a hard adjustment, for Alex and I, but also for our dogs. This photo is of our smallest dog, Rosco. He was pouting on our bed and just moping around. So naturally, I had to photograph it ;).

This photo was originally on my Instagram feed, but I decided it was perfect to use with the colors of the Gossamer Blue kit. I love using a neutral background and then add color with my pattern papers.

To create the rays of pattern paper, I got out my ruler and pencil and just eyeballed where I wanted my lines to go. I cut the rays out from scrap piece of cardstock and used it as a pattern to make my rays from my pattern paper. Here's a tip: be sure to label all the pieces you cut out, so you can get them back into the right place!

I then added some stitching with my sewing machine, and then added my stars and journaling. I used my hot glue gun to attach the stars, due to their weight. I just wasn't sure that a glue dot would hold them over time.

A simple layout that documents a point in our lives. Done.

Thanks for having me guest today, and be sure to stop by my blog to see what other projects I am working on!

Just Me - Blog

Thank you so much Melissa.  I enjoy Melissa's blog.  Although it might be simple, as she calls it, it is incredibly inspirational.  I've picked up several techniques I want to try.  Melissa's work has appeared in many scrapbooking magazines and she serves on several design teams.  Again, thank you so much Melissa.

Personal Note:
Well, the CAT scan came back with the results.  The results are that I'm having three surgical procedures done as an outpatient this Thursday.  Afterwards they tell me my hearing will be back and I will be able to breathe so much better.  Only 3 to 5 days of recovery and I'm good as gold!  I ask for your prayers as this is a bit scarey for me, but I know it is for the best.

Have A Crafty Day!
