Tutorial for Christmas Mini-Album from X-ACTO® and Elmer's, Sponsor of 12 Days of Home for the Holidays

Welcome to D's Paper Studio! November is the month I am highlighting the sponsors of 12 Days of Home for the Holidays blog event and giveaway.  I can't wait to show you the generous gifts that each company has given for the end of 12 Days of Home for the Holidays.  Matter-of-fact, I can't wait to share all the awesome guests along with some new additions to the blog event.  12 Days of Home for the Holidays begins December 1st and runs until December 12th.  Everyone is invited.  I've hopefully fixed issues with my comment section of the blog where everyone can leave comments for the guests as well as get in on the giveaway.

X-ACTO®  is a great company with great products.  I can't begin to tell you how many knives I have and use.  Remember the pumpkins?  I used X-ACTO® retractable craft knife.  Many of my projects I use X-ACTO® Series Z craft knife (awesome and sharp).  All the detailed cutting I do?  I use X-ACTO® Designer Series craft knife to get the smallest of details.  Thank you X-ACTO®/ Elmer's for being a sponsor for 12 Days of Home for the Holidays.

X-ACTO and Elmer's is sharing a wonderful Christmas mini-album.

To make cardboard album pages, use X-ACTO® 12" Rotary Paper Trimmer to cut fourteen 5 3/4" squares from cardboard. For front and back covers, cut four 6" squares from cardboard. (Note: Can use various backs from tablets since they will be covered with papers. Each page will be made from gluing together two pieces, after holes are punched.) - See more To make cardboard album pages, use X-ACTO® 12" Rotary Paper Trimmer to cut fourteen 5 3/4" squares from cardboard. Use Craft Bond™ All Purpose Glue Stick to align and glue together two cover pieces for front cover and two for back cover. Similarly glue page pairs making a total of seven pages and two covers.  (Wait to assemble with rings.)

Plan layout of album, thinking in terms of front, back and two page spreads. Decide placement of papers first, then photos and last, embellishments. For outside and inside of front and back covers, use 12” Rotary Paper Trimmer to cut 6" square from papers. Similarly, cut 5 3/4" squares scrapbook paper for pages. Use CraftBond™ Repositionable Glue Stick to attach papers temporarily as you plan and coordinate pages with photos.  Later, use All Purpose Glue Stick to attach papers. When punching holes, page to make it easier to see where to punch: cover one side of page, punch hole, then cover other side of page and punch.

For consistent look to photos in album, use X-ACTO® Designer Series 9" Paper Trimmer to trim photos to 3 3/4" squares. Use X-ACTO® Designer Series Corner Rounder Punch to round corners of each photo.

The following techniques can be used for a variety of looks:
Mounted photos: Cut 4" square scrapbook paper or cardstock and round corners with Corner Rounder Punch. Use Glue Stick to attach photo, centered on paper square. Option: To double mount photo, cut 4 1/2" square, round corners, center and glue to back of mounted photo and glue to page.

Photo Dimension: Use X-ACTO® Designer Series 12" x 12" Self Healing Cutting Mat, Gripster® Knife and 12" Metal Ruler to measure and cut 3 3/4" square from Foam Board™. Use Glue Stick to attach photo to Foam Board™ and glue to page.  Photo Mounted Dimension: Position and use Glue Stick to attach double mounted photos to 3 3/4" Foam Board™ squares. Use X-ACTO® Designer Series Zig Zag 4 Pack Decorative Edge Scissors to trim mounting papers and glue to page.

Use scrapbooking paper with holiday words or type words on computer and print. Use 12” Rotary Paper Trimmer or X-ACTO® Designer Series Gripster® Knife on 12” x 12” Self Healing Cutting Mat to cut apart. Attach paper words and additional embellishments using Glue Stick or for added dimension use CraftBond™ Foam Mounting Tape. For metal accents use CraftBond™ Glue Spots, 3D Popup-medium. For small gemstones and use CraftBond™ Flexible Dualtip Pen to attach.

For ribbon accents, use 12” Metal Ruler and X-ACTO® Designer Series 6" Precision Tip Scissors to cut 4" lengths of ribbon.  Diagonally trim ends. Fold ribbons in half and use Flexible Dualtip Pen between ribbon layers to hold and to attach to tops or sides of pages so that ribbons extend out. Another ribbon technique: punch five holes in cardstock. Fold in half 6” length of ribbon, thread fold through hole from front to back and bring ribbon ends through loop. Pull ends so loop is snug. Repeat with remaining holes/ribbons.

When album covers and pages are finished connect with loose-leaf notebook rings. Tie various ribbons to rings using Step 8, second technique. Since pages are intentionally bulky, display album upright with pages fanned open.

This is a project from Elmer's.  You can find the instructions on Elmer's craft gallery.

Thank you X-ACTO® and Elmer's for beautiful projects and for sponsoring 12 Days of Home for the Holidays.

Note from Core'dinations:
Brenda asked if Core'dinations had a vintage paper to make the topiary.  Yes!  I double checked with Core'dinations and they said they do have a vintage line.  Vintage Collection can be found HERE.  FYI...I love this line.  I have a stockpile of it!

Have a Crafty Day!
