Gathered Shells Lately? Authentique's Seaside Layout

It's beach time here in South Carolina.  We have beautiful beaches, but Florida's Panama City Beach is spectacular!  I have a cabinet full of shells my son has collected over the years.  Summer is shell season.

Again I am using one of my Page Map cards from Becky Fleck.  I decided to declare this week Page Map Week on D's Paper Studio.  Check out Becky Fleck's website Page Maps if you like sketches for creating your layouts.  It certainly helps with the "bones" of a layout.

Here is my take on Becky's Page Map card....

The Story
This is my little beach bum.  Authentique's Seaside collection is perfect for the colors in his swimwear.

Becky's Map Card...
Notables
I continue to experiment using mixed media products.
  • I used Heidi Swapp's stencil to create the wavy center of the page.
  • I added different color inks and spritz the page with water causing the ink to blend and soften.
  • Accented it with stamped wording.
This stuff is just fun.

"Beach Bum" title is made from Basic Grey's letters, sanded and inked with Tim's Distress Ink, Vintage Photo.
  • The chain is chipboard from Blue Fern Studio gessoed, added a little acrylic paint, sanded it again.  Then I had some fun with Prima / Finnabair Art Extravagance Patina Effect Pastes.
  • I rubbed in touches of the blue and mint green paste and highlighted the edges with the brass pasted.
The center of the middle of the page is a flower from EK Success' Jolee's.  I placed an old piece of netted fiber underneath and Queen & Co.'s Pearls in clusters.  The pearl pin is from Maya Road.

Now the really fun piece...the Seahorse!
  • I stamped the seahorse and embossed it.
  • I used my finger to add the Patina Paste blue, highlighted with the mint green along with the brass pastes.
I love my seahorse!
The top is cheesecloth pulled apart and adhered to the paper.  The word "SHELLS" is from my older stash.
I added words, banner, and other art from the Seaside collection.  The brads are from Basic Grey.

What a fun time I had with this layout.  I hope you enjoy it as well.

BLOG NEW UPDATE
I am still researching and updating features as I go.  I have been to talking to a high schooler about what is out there and what do the "kids" like aka. blogs.  Well, her answer surprised me and I'll share with you when I can implement it.

Check out the Video of the Week feature that I have started.  It is a great layout by one of Bo Bunny's creative team members.  Many wonderful scrapbooking techniques.

Leave a comment and let me know about the layout and/or how the blog in coming along.

  3. Fabulous page and texture. Love this! To answer your question, the chipboard frame on my layout is like a large slide mount (remember those?) LOL! It was part of an old Crate Paper summer collection (can't remember the name). They came in a pack of various sizes and colors. :)
