I'm Just A "Y"

My daughter and I embarked on a beautiful project several years ago.  It has become an amazing focal point for the kids in their playroom.  You might remember...
D's Paper Studio post ABC Completed for close-ups and more information.

The letters are held on the wall by 3M Command Velcro strips.  One thing we learned early was that yarn and adhesive like that is on 3M Command Velcro doesn't work.  That mean the "Y" gave us problems from the beginning.  Well, I finally gave up.

Time for a "Y" remake.

I loved remaking the "Y" in honor of our only grandboy who totally loves the beach.
I painted the sides with The Fine Touch acrylic paint Sky Blue.

-Added one of my favorite beach/ocean paper collections Graphic 45's By The Sea.
-Applied Rangers Glossy Accents over the "Y."
-Applied paper to the cardboard "Y."
-Let dry.
-Cut with x-acto knife.
-Ink the edges with Tim Holtz distress inks Mermaid Lagoon
Fussy cut the lighthouse, fish, octopus and photo of my "Buddy."
Before adding the pieces to the "Y" I cut a piece of cheese cloth, pulled it apart and twisted it around the "Y."  I used ScraPerfect's Best Glue Ever to attach it to the "Y."
I added the lighthouse and my "Buddy" photo with pop dots.
I added the rest with Ranger's Glossy Accent.
Graphic 45's "no shoes allowed."
Now our "Y" is happy once again.

I love these little projects.  I have a request from one of the grands that they want their own letter now.  Next project!!

Have a wonderful day and weekend.
