Sunburst Technique, A Ladies Diary by Graphic 45 ... Promised Giveaway

I love the composition and style of the sunburst on a card or scrapbook page.  I went in search of a great pattern with instructions to learn the basics of a sunburst.  Check out Pinterest and be prepared for hours of inspiration.

I found a great pattern.  I wish I could have found the post on the blog the Pinterest pin linked to.

Warning:  for someone with my lack of vision with geometry this was not easy.  Thanks to my husband for his wonderful help.

Here is my take on a sunburst layout.

Brave Heart
Notables
Graphic 45 A Ladies Diary
Julie Nutting / Prima Valentina Doll Stamps
Prima Flowers
Tim Holtz Vintage Photo distress ink, roses, nib, flash card words, crown adornments, stars
Bo Bunny chipboard clock

The Pattern
It includes the sizes.  What I did not notice was the cut.  Look at the third photo with the measurements.  Take note which way the diagonal is cut.  It does make a difference.  Each piece must be cut correctly so that the pieces meet in the middle with the correct depth.  I nearly pulled my hair out trying to figure what I was doing wrong.  I had already cut everything and when hubby came in and help me realize I had cut several wrong.  He states nonchalantly "just cut more."  Are you kidding!?!  (I cherish every piece of Graphic 45.)  Nope, I found scraps and fixed it.  LOL
My photo is 4.5".  I cut a piece of cardstock 4.75" adhering the photo to the cardstock.  I applied ScraPerfect's Best Glue Ever and placed the twine around the photo twice.  This created a photo/frame I could position without adhering everything straight to the page.
A bit of this and that with Prima flowers as the anchor.  I choose "brave heart" because my sweet Little gets a little scared when she preforms on the "big" stage.  But she has a brave heart and always goes out to give it her all.
In the full photo you can hardly see the stars.  These are Tim Holtz's idea-ology stars.  I added a touch of alcohol ink then tapped white acrylic paint on top of the star to give it a frosted look with a slight color to it.
Yes, I'm going through a phase.  I love these doll stamps from Julie Nutting.  This is Valentina.  I used my scraps from A Ladies Diary to create a matching doll.  You should really check out the Julie Nutting Doll Club Facebook group.  There is some incredible talent there.

GIVEAWAY
I promised a giveaway when I finished my blog.  I'm still working on it but I wanted to go ahead and keep my promise.  My most repin pin from Pinterest is Tim Holtz's idea-ology Flip Frame.  It's crazy but every week I continue to have repins.  I found one and thought I would give you an opportunity to win one.
