I Took a "Mulligan"

A Mulligan is "when a player gets a second chance to perform a certain move or action."  I could not live with the layout I posted Wednesday as it was.  I had to fix it.  Did I mention I HAD TO? Although not everything is as I would like it, I certainly feel assured it's better!

The Story
These are pictures of me and my husband.  I can't believe the 70's look or that Jim had that much hair!  LOL  Look at those thin people, it's a wonder that it is really us.  Looking back through the great times and the hard times we certainly had great adventures.  And more to come!

The Layout

Orginal Layout
What I Learned
  • Dad was right when he said, "If a job is worth doing, it's worth doing it right."
  • I toned down the embellishments.  Whew!
  • I still kept my clocks but reduced their numbers.
  • I used three photos instead of two.  I usually don't go for even number photos and now I understand why.  The balance is so much better with the three.
  • I used my vintage rick rac instead of all the clutter embellishments.  Mom bought the ribbon for me along with other vintage ribbon.
  • The title is still a bit to dark, but I highlighted it a bit with my Inkessentials Pen.
  • I would love another Heidi Swapp clock face to try something else.
Thanks for all the suggestions and observations.  They really helped.  This one probably will get put in the frame for my dinning room home decor.  It  is simpler than the others I've hung up, but it depicts me and Jim much better.

Next Week
The Craft and Hobby Trade Show will be going on in Chicago.  I'm so in mourning over not being able to go.  BUT I did send four projects to be displayed at Epiphany Crafts Booth.  So I'm there vicariously.  Next week I'll be posting my layouts and projects from CHA!

FYI:  Two Peas in a Bucket and Fiskateers are having online CHA crops.  If you have never participated in an online crop you should really try it.  I have so much fun and I actually get more done.

A Total Funny
My husband and I went to the Peach Festival on the 4th of July.  They always have a antique car show.  As we were looking we quickly came across this truck:
I couldn't stop laughing.  Jim just kept looking at it and studying it.  I'm still laughing at the thought.  The kicker:  Other than this is the model with the long bed, this is the truck that Jim and I dated in and the one we had when we were first married.  LOL

Have a Crafty Day!

Gratitude List

  4. You are right, the re-do is better (although I liked it the other way too). Changing the colors of the photos was the key. I had to laugh at your comment about Ang and Rebecca---I called them "Ernestine"/Lily Tomlin too.

Both are nice, but I like the re-do better. Good job!

  6. I like your re-do very much. Totally agree that using 3 photos is so much easier design-wise than 2. Funny thing. Speaking of funny things, I'm glad you can laugh at that truck being labeled an antique!

  8. Okay, you win! That mulligan really was worth it. Of course when I saw the LO the first time I thought it looked fine. I guess it shows me that even when the embellishments are wonderful and would go with the LO, it doesn't mean it is good to put them all on the page!

I like your truck picture as well! There are a couple of shows I watch that look for "vinage" items. A lot of them are things that just seem ordinary to me!
