Two Short Tutorials with a Bit of Magic

I love making magic with my scrapbooking tools.  So today I thought I would share two short tutorials about some magic I made on my last Graphic 45 layout that featured some fun butterflies and a cool banner.

Here is the close up of the the banner and butterflies.  You can see the whole layout on THIS POST.

Before you see it....Yes, I did get a radical hair cut and boy, does it feel great.

Spring is time for love, engagements, wedding planning, etc.  I crafted a "first thoughts" book.  In my experience often the first thought is the most creative, honest, clear thought.  Every bride-to-be needs a book of first thoughts.  It's a place to put down those first thoughts about your fiancee when you see him in a hat, first thoughts about a wedding gown, first thoughts of the incredible sunrise...first thoughts.

Peter Rabbit Time

Our local children's museum has a new exhibit called Storyland.  It features several very popular children's books in interactive play and learning.  Last month their program Tales for Tots featured the book Peter Rabbit.  Little Honey and I had a great time listening to the book, meeting Peter Rabbit, eating carrots and peas, and creating several "Peter" themed crafts.

Afterwards we went up to the Storyland exhibit to play in the area of Peter Rabbit.  A very symptomatic grandmother saw me taking pictures of LH and offered to take a picture of the two of us together.  This is going in my book as one of my all time favorites!

I pulled all my scrap bunnies from Graphic 45's Once Upon A Springtime to create this very simple layout.  I am about out of this collection.  I think I'm going to do something I haven't done before:  go buy another pad.  This collection is timeless.

Graphic 45's an ABC Primer

I have so many photos of my children that I have not scrapbooked.  I'll be busy for a few decades.  Most of them are of school events.  When I got my hands on Graphic 45's an ABC Primer I went straight to my children's photos to start the process.

This layout is of my daughter on her Kindergarten Graduation.

I like the series of small boxes with the photos the same size.  My pre-digital photos were never really great.  I feel like I was able to cut the photos down in order frame Tabitha out a bit more.

What To Do With the Tiny Scraps

My husband never understood why I would not throw away my tiny scraps.  I would always say, "You never know!" Graphic 45's collections are especially great to saving all the scraps.

My daughter inspired me to create my own photo collage on my wall using string and clothes pins. I have photos propped up here and there.  I thought this would be a great place to put them all so we could all enjoy them.

I decided to have a bit of fun with the clothes pins and my tiny Graphic 45 Once Upon A Springtime scraps.  These were so easy and fun.

(excuse the photos...i just didn't seem to have the touch when photographing these.  remember faeries are hard to capture on film anyways.)

paint clothespins...acrylic paintcut and adhere background paper for clothespin...modge podge stamp the mushrooms, dragon flies, and butterflies on a contrasting paper grab a cup of coffee, wrap up in a quilt (on cold days), put on your favorite movie, and grab your micro-tip scissors and cut al…

Turning Back Time

I was so caught up in all the wonderful characters that Graphic 45's collection contain I did not see the crossing of stories.  Do you see it?  LOL

I was working with Graphic 45's Hallowe'en in Wonderland and as I was setting up the design I saw my pack of chipboard elements from The Magic of Oz and added them to the layout.

LOL I didn't see what I had done until I sat down to write this blog post.  Talk about interesting.

The photo was no mistake.  During my cleaning (HUGE project) I found a very damaged photo of my daughter at our first family church.   My husband said I should throw it away saying I could not even scan it.  The photo looked like it had encountered water and was scratched.

With a little patience and Photoshop Elements I was able to clean it up enough to use it for this scrapbook layout.

The reason I love the photo is it reminds me so much of her little girl.

Are You Curious?

My order for one of my new favorites in the Graphic 45 line, Olde Curiosity Shoppe, came Friday and I've been scrapbooking up a storm.  I can't wait to use the "When Pigs Fly" paper.  It is too funny.  I have to find the right photo(s) for the layout first.

Quick Reminder
Make sure to take D's Paper Studio March Challenge.  One winner will receive an awesome prize pack from Graphic 45.  Details, deadlines, and giveaway are HERE.

This is a layout of my son and daughter.  Tabitha was always a special big sister to her brother.  Even now she watches over him in her special style at college.  I was inspired by a layout from designer Romy Veul.

Graphic 45 Faeries

I believe one of my favorite Graphic 45 collections is Once Upon a Springtime.  I love all the details with the faeries and those wings just scream out .... Diamond Dust!

I'm continuing my search throughout Graphic 45's blog for inspiration and new-to-me techniques.  I am continuously inspired by Yuka Hino.  I found another layout I just adored.  You can see her layout HERE.  My favorite part of her design is the center of the layout and all the elements that make it interesting to take that second and third look and find something new.

I turned her design around on it's side and created my layout of Little Honey on her Birthday.
