Celebrating "The" Dad, a Scrapbook Layout

Image
Too often I when I think Father's Day I think of my own dad.  But my husband is the most steadfast and loving dad to four wonderful, outstanding, beautiful children and a good Father-In-Law to three.

When I went through a lot of older photos I saved all the negatives that either didn't have anything on them or just a few photos that I didn't really need (you know the stop sign you thought was funny at the time...).  Now I try to incorporate them in my layouts.  I like the way these worked into the design.

Have a Crafty Day!

My Hero and Cool Tip Wednesday

Image
From the time I can remember seeing his face until the last time I saw him, my dad has always been my hero.  Father's Day is a day of celebration for me of the greatest father.  Although I miss my dad more as each Father's Day passes, I celebrate his life as my dad and my hero.

This layout was created for the Graphic 45's June challenge on Facebook.  Anytime you talk about doing a guy style layout my dad first comes to mind.  He was a very handsome man and a shutterbug to boot.  Not only did he serve this country (USA) bravely, but he was the "coolest" dad on the "block."  I remember once at a basketball game ... I was sitting in the bleachers.  Dad walked through the gym door and one the students behind me said, "Now he's good looking!"  I laughed so hard.  Dad did too years later when I told him.

My Dad and Graphic 45

Image
I have seen and used many different paper collections for men, but I have never used a more dynamic paper collection than Graphic 45's A Proper Gentleman

I had a lot of fun creating this layout of me and my Dad...well in this photo it was probably Dada.  The memories of my dad are heart warming.  A flood of memories came back was I reminiscing while making this layout.  Sometimes we forget the little things, but while creating this layout I had a flash of my daddy's small, goofy smile he had when he being funny or trying to get one over on us kids.  What a fun memory.

This layout is of Daddy and me when we lived in Texas.

LITTLE, my granddaughter!
For Little's vacation I created and packed up a scrapbooking kit.  It was for those early morning times when everyone was getting ready for the day.  I had no idea just how creative she was.

This past weekend my daughter hosted a baby shower for one of her oldest friends.  Of course she had to have a wonderfully made diaper cake.  My daughter believes this is the most beautiful of all the diaper cakes I've made.  Well, it wasn't just me, my daughter and I collaborated on this cake.

I have several views and hope you enjoy.

A Scrapbook Layout for a Fabulous Dad!

Image
I have but one son-in-law and he is a fabulous dad.  How could I not help but to do another Easter layout featuring him and Little's sister.

Blue Fern Studios chipboard.  What a beautifully detailed piece.  It's perfect for a Secret Garden.

Tags, made from Graphic 45 paper, chipboard piece, and American Crafts cardstock.

I traced one of Graphic 45's chipboard tags onto a piece of Secret Garden paper, stamped and added the bow.

At Halloween I purchased two of each of the chipboard elements from Graphic 45. So I used a couple of tag pieces to create this element.  The bottom layer I adhered brown cardstock, sanded and inked around the edges.  I did the same with the top layer using a scrap piece of Secret Garden.  I added a bow (I think May Arts Ribbon) and key from Tim Holtz's idea-ology line.

Vintage lace from my mother.  Actually, this is a piece from a much wider croc…

More On the Scraproom Make Over

Image
How about a few more photos of the renovated scrap/craft/oasis room.  You might catch a glimpse of that wonderful new oak floor as well.

This is my daughter's desk from when she was a young girl...Little's Mommy.  It has been in the storage shed for many years.  I decided to use it to create my own sewing desk.  The clutter behind it is my college student's "home for the summer" stuff.  I need to continue to try to get the yellow out of it but for now this is where we are with it.

This is the sole survivor of a fire in my mom and dad's storage shed.  The chairs and table were purchased when I was around 7 or 8 in Bangor, Maine.  It is very much part of my memories growing up.

This is the only sewing machine I've ever owned and I could not ask for better.  This was purchased by my mom before I was born.  I learned to sew on this machine.  I can still thread it with my eyes closed!

A new arrangement to bring more freshness to the room.  I also organized th…

I Can Dance. Oops, That's Scrapbook!

Image
I have some of the most marvelous photos of my grandchildren.  I think I'll be scrapping forever!  For me it is like reliving memories of the most beautiful grandchildren.  Creating a layout is like dancing lightly on air.

Here is a photo of Little with her friend at an Easter Egg hunt.  When these too get together the cuteness meter can't hold it all.

Graphic 45's Secret Garden.  One of my favorite books and with the most incredible artist/designer.  This is a layout loosely based on a sketch by Graphic 45.  You can sign up for their emails and I generally get a layout project sheet and card project sheet every month.  I've received tutorials as well.  I love it.  Right in my inbox.

Hand cutting is one of the most relaxing activities for me.  The lower left corner is all hand cut, even to the tiniest flower.

The crochet border was made by my mom.  Every few years she makes up some fun crochet pieces for me to use.  Hey, Mom...it's that ti…
