The Magic of the Holidays!

I've heard 7 year old Rhema Marvanne sing "Amazing Grace" and was astounded at her gifted voice.  On YouTube and on her website .  Rhema has a fun Christmas song I thought I would share to get in the "groove" of the 12 Days of Home for the Holidays.  Her story and her music can be found on her website.

Tomorrow starts the 12 Days of Home for the Holidays with my special guest for Day One.... You'll have to come by tomorrow to find out!

Have a wonderful day and don't forget to share about 12 Days of Home for the Holidays with your friends.

Gratitude List

It's Monday

I'm doing some online shopping today since it's Cyber Monday!  What about you?  I have the Christmas lists in front of the computer and I'm ready...well after a cup of coffee!

Have you started on your Christmas decorationing?  I have so much I don't know what to do with it all.  LOL  I've collected so much over 33 years of marriage.  I have all my kids Christmas ornaments and projects from their elementary days.  We still hang their ornaments on the tree.

Are you ready?  I'm almost there!  From December 1 to December 12 I have 12 guest bloggers.  My guest bloggers are going to be sharing something about their Holidays.  It might be traditions, recipes, decorations, or a craft.  I can barely believe the guest line up.  I've kept it under raps but you might find out a few guests if you go to Facebook and if you are a "friend" already make sure to click on "attending" for the 12 Days of Home for the Holidays.  In there you will see a few co…

Did You Have a Happy Thanksgiving?

I did.  My whole family (minus one granddaughter) was there and it was fun and delicious.  Here are some quick photos I took...we were having so much fun I nearly forgot to take any.

Miss H with my house guest Tucker                                                          Jim conquering the Turkey!

My family is getting so large we no longer have enough dinnerware for everyone!
More food than we could eat!  The beauty of leftovers.

Miss H, David, and Tucker on the move.
I'm very thankful for my family!
Design Team Queen Connie Mercer made some fun craftiness for us.  From Connie...

The first one is some treat bags my granddaughter helped me make (she stamped hee, hee,) for her 3 yr old cousin ( Joseph) Very simple ~ she loved it!!!

The second one is for Joseph ( he will be 3). He is our 4th grandchild. He has Cerebral Palsy severe so I thought maybe he can hold this little toy in his hands. I used credit card (plastic) and covered with felt using M…

Amazing! Design Team Queen Erika Taylor

Hi Everyone, Erika Taylor here today to share with you a few projects featuring Moxxie Wizardry papers and Graphic 45 goodness.
I’ve gotta admit that I’m a huge fantasy fan. Anything to do with wizards, fairies and unicorns always seems to make me smile wholeheartedly. I think it is the dreamer in me. When I received the Wizardry papers from Debby, I just knew a Harry Potter card would be born. Easy peasy lemon squeezy to create. Nothing fancy besides a bit of fussy cutting and some serious dimension using Helmar Zapdots.

(Note from Debby:  click on the photo to see a more detailed view of Erika's projects.)
Next onto my guilty pleasure of Graphic 45 Steampunk Debutante. I know that if I lived in a much more metropolitan area, the style of steampunk couture would be a big part of my wardrobe. Funky, vintage and dreamy all wrapped into one. YUMMO!!!
These first two tags are created using Debby’s own vintage tags, which I love, some distress inks and some Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots. I lo…

A Little Christmas Please

I can't help it.  It's all around us.  The stores are decorated.  I saw Santa Sunday.  The Hallmark channel is showing the most wonderful Christmas shows.  We are buying Christmas presents.  So I just could not help but start with decorating a bit for Christmas.  Well, maybe more than a little.  LOL

We've put our village on the mantel of the fireplace.

And...Jimmy bought our LIVE Christmas tree!  We have an artificial one's, but this year I really wanted a live tree.  They bring the smell of Christmas in the house.  I haven't decorated it yet, that's tonight.  Jacob, Michelle, Vanessa, Jimmy, and Me will be decorating the tree tonight.  We will put on the Christmas music, have cookies and hot chocolate, and laughter will fill the house.  (note to mom:  no tinsel!)

I really need some creative time, but is has been very busy around the Lewis household.  Between Fall cleaning (closely related to Spring cleaning) and getting ready for the 12 Days of Home for the Ho…

Sights of Fall

Jim and I went driving yesterday and the changing of the leaves are just passing their peak.  Some of the colors were breath taking.  Spring and Fall are two of my favorite seasons here in South Carolina.  Cheryl, Lead Fiskateer, challenge the Fiskateers community to take photos of the season.  You can really see the difference of Fall from all parts of the United States. Here in the South we are still getting 70 degree weather!

Here are a few photos I took that I totally love.

The countdown has begun for the 12 Days of Home for the Holidays.  We are only 8 day away from interesting, lively, and funny blog posts from some incredible people from the greater crafting community.  Artists, Scrapbookers, and favorite crafting personalities will be sharing their favorite traditions, decorations, crafts, recipes, and more from their Holiday.  It's really a don't miss event here.  This is my second annual 12 Days of Home for the Holidays.  Put it down on your calendar or a note taped …

Welcome Connie Mercer!

What awesome, creative layouts and card design team member Connie Mercer came up with using My Minds Eye Alphabet Soup Collection that can be found at heART of Scrapbooking.  Connie is truly incredible.

Title: 2 today!

Supply List:
Pattern paper: My Mind's Eye/Alphabet Soup~boy
Stickers: American Craft, My Mind's Eye
Embellishments: My Mind's Eye

I first double matted the My Mind's Eye pattern paper. Than I added a third piece down the middle~just to add more color to the layout and enhance the photos I was using. Next I double matted the photo (4x6) and place it in the middle of the layout. I did a strip of photos on the left and a strip of the alphabet cards on the right. I stitched them on adding texture and interest to the layout. I titled the layout and added the sticker and brads!!! Then all that was left was to journal the day and sign my work!!!

It's Getting Closer!

Thanksgiving is right around the corner.  Jim and I have been stocking up on the "fixins" for our dinner.  A lot of what we need is going on special and my husband is a coupon nut!  We got our Butterball turkey yesterday.  FYI:  if you buy a Butterball there are coupons to help you out online at Butterball

Another fun site is BlackFriday2010.  They have all the available Black Friday (day after Thanksgiving) ads.  They also give you tips on making the most of Black Friday shopping.  My kids having been pouring over the ads for Best Buy while mom is looking at Michael's!

Do you have a tip for Black Friday or a funny story?  Leave a comment and help us all have a fun, safe Black Friday shopping day.  I'll share a few of mine on Thursday.

Another layout of my daughter's wedding.  This one is precious.  There were several photographers so they were able to get this wonderful shot.  Jim had not seen Tabitha in her dress.  Jim waited at the bottom of the stairs and …

Christmas Garland with Glue Dots® Adhesives

This year of all the years I'm very excited about the Holiday Season:  Thanksgiving and Christmas.  The music, the sights, and sounds all put a spring in my step.  I'm already thinking about Christmas decorations.  I created this Gingerbread People garland to remember the times of the smell of gingerbread cookies baking and the fun our family had decorating them.

Gratitude List

I always add a gratitude list to my blog post.  It's my personal way to remind myself of all the wonderful people and events that happen every day.  This time of the year I've been reading blogs and Facebook where people have been writing a Thankful or Gratitude list everyday in honor of Thanksgiving.  It is wonderful to see the blessings of others.

My challenge to you is to not only write out a gratitude list during the month of November, but to continue throughout the year.  It's not always easy, but when things are not always wonderful it is an encouragement to look back through the lists to see what marvelous people are in my life, the opportunities that have been given to me, and the simple things like a smile or a phone call.  Incorporate in your blog, your Facebook, or buy a journal and keep it beside your bed and let the last thing you do before you sleep is to remember the blessings of the day.

I've been continuing to create layouts with my daughter's wedd…

Fun with Design Team Member Katrina Hunt

The Design Team has a lot of fun planned this month.  Katrina is amazing with all her creativity.  My Minds Eye Alphabet Soup is one of my favorites.  You can find it at heART of Scrapbooking.
From Katrina
Hi everyone.  I used the Alphabet Soup collection from My Minds Eye for my projects this month.
First of all a layout.  I used my love of border punches and punched all around the 12x12 sheet of paper and then inked.   I decided on lots of layers, they are my thing!!!!  I distressed, inked and even pleated to give more texture.

I then decided to make a card and matching envelope.  You can find directions all over the internet on how to make envelopes if you do a search.  Videos on Youtube are very helpful.

Have a wonderful start of November and a great Thanksgiving holiday!!!!
Thank you Katrina.  I agree, you are great with all your layers.  Wonderful creativity and love the card with the cupcake.  You can find Katrina at her blog Paper, Scissors and Glue.
