Oops, There It Is!

Woo Hoo! I finished week 4 of Homemade Families before I needed to do Week 5. I love that this one was a “free for all.” We’ll have to build more of those into our journey.

We have had many family gatherings throughout my lifetime. I chose one from 1994. It was a day, probably Thanksgiving as I see a few jackets and sweaters. We in Florida here so you can tell a bit what time of the year it is easily.

This is my mom’s side of the family. I love all the food around the table. The fun of sitting on the porch, inside on Grandma’s chairs, or like Uncle Earl standing out at his truck with his food and southern ice tea. Several of these pictures are so precious. Top second photo is of my Uncle James. The bottom let photo is my Uncle Earl and next to him is my father. These are great men who passed since these photos were taken. What fun to see Uncle Lamar sitting next to his playful (mischievous) nephew. There was my Dad, Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, Sister and so much more that day. The most im…

I believe I’m on the upswing of my health! Thank you for the good thoughts and prayers. Please continue that it improves rapidly. I miss being on the internet and most especially on Debby’s Dare.

I played last night with a project I’ve wanted to do for the little bit. I purchased this box on sale at AC Moores. I loved the idea of it. But I’m not really an artsy fruit person.

The pattern was basically there for me to follow so I turned it into a Valentines box with Fancy Pants Valentines paper…awesome stuff. Then I added some Bo Bunny, Cloud9 Rain Dots and a whole lot of Tim Holtz. One thing you can see clearly is that I painted the whole box with crackle paint from Ranger. The crackle is very fine and just finishes the look of the box.

Because it is tall and thin it is becoming part of my organization on my scrap table. I purchased some smooch mist/spritz or what ever it is called and it fit perfectly. FYI: I will eternally be a Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist fan, but it never hurts t…

Homemade Families Week 4

UPDATE:  I'm still very sick and ask for your prayers.  Do me a favor and let people know about the comment question DARE!  The more comments the more add-ons for the Jenni Bowlin Foundation. (1-28-10)

I want to apologize, but I do not have my Homemade Families layout complete for today. I have been sick for about 5 days now and I've pushed myself to it being a bit overwhelming.

I don’t want us to miss a week so this week you pick the recipe and photos to do a two-page layout. Make sure you come back here and post your link along with what question you asked yourself. I’ll do the same before the next question.

Reminder I will be pulling from all four posts that have links to their projects for the drawing next Tuesday for the month of January.

February will be heritage month so you might want to pull together those old photos and recipes.

How about a DARE and a RAK for everyone?

I have a Jenni Bowlin Foundation with Maya Road add-on’s up for a RAK. You can see them at Debby’…

Scripture Challenge

Yesterday I was tempted to turn on the air conditioner. It is warming up very nicely in here in South Carolina for a beautiful spring.

I’ve been working on Patter Cross’ Scripture Challenge 2. Patter is doing layouts this time, but I decided to do ATC (artist trading cards). It is a fun challenge to make your point/message come through in a tiny space.

This is my “cover” page; my introduction to the whole challenge.

“Words of Life”

The background stamps are from Stamp Camp. I love the detail of their stamps. I’ll be seeing them again in a few weeks and hope to pick up more.

This week’s word is “temptation.” I chose to focus of being prepared for temptations. I studied Ephesians 6, a familiar passage about the amour of God.

The background images are an older line from Karen Foster. Pays to keep those scraps!

Croppin’ Hoppin’ Party
We are having an online crop at Dare2Dream Saturday starting at 1 pm est. I’ll post the Dares at that time and when they are due. W…

Homemade Families, Week 3

I’m finally finding my groove with Homemade Families. It’s been a hard, quick transition from All About You to Homemade Families. I think I’m there now! LOL

Meal-in-Dish! Is there a casserole that your family loves that has pretty much all they need in that dish? Lasagna is one of my favorites. When we want a special breakfast I make a wonderful Hashbrown Casserole. It has it all and you are full when you are finished. Usually, I’m a little over full. This recipe came to me from a good friend where I worked, Barbara. And thank you!

Before the question I wanted to let you know January is sort of a hodge podge of questions/prompt. The rest of the year has monthly themes. I know you have recipes ready to go…with 52 weeks we will get them all in and some!  Sketches will be in the email today for those who have signed up for Homemade Families.  You still can sign up by emailing me at with you comment name and real name.

What is your family’s favorite Meal…

Debby's Dare Demo...Stitching with Stamps....sort of!

I’m going back to my first love in scrapbooking. I’ve always loved stitching on my layouts. Number one complaint from others is “it takes up too much time.” It takes up no more time than many other techniques we often apply to our scrapbook pages. When I’m stitching at a crop it is prime time to talk and share.

I don’t take sewing machines to crops, but I do take my stamps. This technique works best with acrylic stamps. But you can certainly stamp a wood stamp on a piece of vellum and use it the same way.

As always I would love comments to let me know what you think.

Don’t forget to sign up for my newsletter at the right to receive your “Stitch Diagrams.”

Here are a few samples of some of my "quilting" on paper.  I'm not finished with the layout yet.

Homemade Families participates tomorrow is a new prompt. I’ve been seeing some great layouts and photos. I’ve also seen some great recipes that I may need to copy. If you are a Fiskateer and do not have a blog I would ask…

It's Laid Back Saturday

I'm off to enjoy a brunch at IHop with my husband and then shopping for some new window blinds and hopefully (according to my persuasive powers) new curtains. After than I can give the grand tour of before and after. It feels so good to have room to move around now.

Reminder: Giveaway for the Chocolate Covered Cherries Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist is still happening. I'll give it away when we hit 50 comments. We are close. Invite friends to come and leave a comment. If they mention you I'll put your name in twice.

FREE SHIPPING and Greatly Reduced Prices at Debby's Dream Studio. Trying to make room for those new goodies coming after CHA! For all new orders you will find a Maya Road product in your package FREE. Check it out...try it out. Satisfaction Guaranteed.

It’s never too late to jump in our 2010 Dare Ya! 52 weeks of Homemade Families. We are having a great start. Each week there is a prompt. You make a two-page layout. Mine are 8 x 8. One layout is with family and friends as it pertains to food. The second page is a recipe that goes with the prompt. At the end of the year you have recorded 52 recipes.  To join in send me your real name and your comment name to .

Don’t forget to visit Dare2Dream community. We are growing and the inspiration there is awesome. I’m feeling a CHA chat event coming on next week (and a few giveaways in the mix).

Debby's Dare Demo: Stamping with Glimmer Mist? Wow!

I’m still trying to find myself in my studio. Although there is now hope. I found a few pieces of furniture to help me out in my organization. Although once I get the “big” stuff in place, someone needs to come organize my embellishments!

When I was just beginning to pull things out.  YUCK!

At one point Bailey got lost in the mess.  Poor baby wold not leave my lap while I was working on the floor.

One sober thought is all the things I’ve put aside for the Scrapbook Yard sale. I can’t believe what an obsession I have with certain items. I think of what I could have done with all those funds. With the tragedy in Haiti and needs in my own backyard, I will be thinking through my purchases more carefully. I can only scrap so fast and I know I will want the latest and greatest; just not everything at the same time.

Several people have emailed me and commented on the Glimmer Mist giveaway….don’t forget to leave a comment on the thread below to be eligible for the Chocolate Cover Cherries Tat…

Homemade Families, Week 2

MOMMMM What’s for Dinner?

Have you heard this or even cried it out yourself coming in from a long day at school? Or maybe it’s “Honey, what are we having tonight?” My 16 year old is our gentle giant as he is nearly 6’6” and he needs to eat! So, it’s not unusual for him to come home wanting to know what is for dinner that night.

Answer this question with an ordinary day, and ordinary dish that you would cook. I almost put down spaghetti or tomato soup and grilled cheese. LOL Maybe the next time. I remembered a quick meal I would pull together for the kids when I got that cry of hunger.

For your family page it can be of one of your family members or several that remind you of a time that it was “What’s for Dinner?”

“What’s for Dinner?”
