Debby's Dare ... Dare 2 Dream...Debby's Dream Studio's New Community!

Our official opening date is January 1st 2010. But we are going to "Bling in the New Year" Thursday starting at 10 pm EST. For 2 hours we will have a live chat to bring in the New Year. I will be posting a DARE today so you can be ready for Thursday's party. It is a drop in party; the only real rule is that if you win some "Bling" you must be present at the time.

Dare 2 Dream is a new community that I created to bring it all together. There you will be able to post your layouts, art, photos and videos to share. If you are participating in a Dare you can post your response there. You will have your own page that you can leave as is or create a different background for yourself. There is a discussion board where you can share information, ask questions and have fun. There is a feed into Debby's Dare and Debby's Dream Studio's specials will be post there 1st. We have Blog …

Do You Have Your 2010 Word?

Do you have it ready?  I'm working on a project today and I'll post tonight my word and my project hopefully by 6 pm EST.  See ya then.

All About You in 52, Week 52

Image
I’m wrapped up in my Snuggie trying to get toasty. The day is starting out chilly.

All About You in 52, Week 52. It’s the last question. To be honest I didn’t want to finish. I have so many stories to tell, things to express, and photos to scrap. I hope that I’ll keep up with the idea for myself.

The last question in my Grandmother’s book to me was “What advice do you have for me?” I think we’ve covered that question, but it made me think about what lessons, wishes, prayers, hopes and dreams do I want for my children and their children.

I created a very simple layout with my words being the focus. This is for my children and my grandchildren. I love you guys so much.

Question 52

What is your wish/prayer for those to whom will read your “All About You” Book?

My Answer

My Journaling
I pray for you so much in life, but not what you think.

I don’t pray for you wealth. I pray that you learn balance in your finances. I pray that you learn moderation in your living. I pray that you know how to…

Merry Christmas

So It All Comes Together

Image
Since before Thanksgiving I've been working on crafts either with scrapbooking, home decor, gifts, jewelry, etc. I've been learning new and exciting techniques with Tim's Tags or Jessica's Holiday in Hand. We've had family over and we've seen the light of Saluda Shoals. We've planned, cooked, wrapped and cleaned. I've taken a photo a day and seen Santa Clause. I've watch "Here Comes Santa Clause" and "Frosty the Snowman." We've compared our memories of Christmas's past. Now, in this time I'm writing this blog post I understand the mandate of "be still and know."

I tried to plan a post for you to express my personal belief concerning Christmas. I did a slide show, a video, a craft or two. But there has been a song that won't leave my heart that I think tells it better than anything I can share with you.

Mark Lowry and Buddy Greene wrote “Mary Did You Know”. I've been familiar with Mark's ministry…

The Christmas elves have been busy wrapping presents around the house.

Crafty Santa is hard at work making good little boys and girls crafty gifts.

The necklace is detachable.

Another Ganddaughter's Craft Box

Charm bracelet for one granddaughter.
Fragment tags make great charms.
The little sample tags on the outside of the grungeboard package easily makes some fun charms.

What to do?

Image
I have so many "irons in the post" I'm not sure what to post about and what I can post about YET! It's not 100% but I believe I'm opting out of the Craft and Hobby Trade Show in Anaheim instead of spending the money on the trip I’ll put more product in the store. This decision is killing me because I'm so dying to see my many friends and see the new products first hand. Also, I have other "irons in the fire" that I hope pan out.

Saying that I really need input on what YOU would like to have in Debby's Dream Studio.
Nikki Silivas new sneak on her product line looks promising.
Do I need to have all the Tim Holtz new distress inks? (I think so)
I think I need some Tattered Angels, especially a little Heidi Swapp.
What about Tim Holtz new signature line at Sizzix?
     Do I need Copic Pens?
     What about Stamps?

I'm just getting beginning to get the emails, phone calls, online promotions about new products. HELP! Calgon …

All About You in 52, Week 51!

Image
I’ve been told by one of the historians in our family that my great grandmother had her “ways.” If she did not liked you she would give you a certain color melon, on the other hand if she did not care for you then she would give you the “other” color melon. She did not show her angry or disapproval outwardly, but she found a way.

As I was thinking about all the great stuff we have documented I realized that one thing to balance the scales was needed for me. Part of who I am is what makes me angry, furious, incensed, or outraged. I don’t pass out melons and sometimes I’m a little too forward about voicing my likes and dislikes but they are a part of who I am.

Be warned about answering this week’s question. As I was typing out those “pet peeves” that I have, I got caught up in the anger. At one point I felt like the need to write a letter to someone who had perpetrated a grave injustice. In the middle of the letter I was pulled away for a moment to answer the phone. When I came back to…

A Start Studded Christmas

Image
Merry Christmas, well almost. It just feels like Christmas with a wonderful gift from our guest designer Patti Milazzo who created a Fancy Pants' Rough and Tough Christmas ornament for her son Alex. Awesome! I read the instructions for the 3-dimensional star and I’m going to have to make a Rough and Tough star from my tree. My 16 year old will be relived that I have a “real” guys ornament up! LOL

Thank you Patti for the inpiriation. Would you like to be inspired over and over again. You can find Patti at Crafting Life {my blog}

Christmas Blocks

Image
I've been taking a little ME time and visiting other blogs for inspiration and definitely admiration. Right now Hero Arts is having a Blog Hop that is incredible. I would certainly suggest you hop to as many blogs as you can. Start at Hero Arts and enjoy the release of their new Hero Arts catalog!

Another fun spot I visit is Ali Edwards blog. A few posts back she had pulled out some building blocks to make a piece a cut home decor. I have some small blocks so away I go at painting, spritzing and gluing. Mine does not even resemble her blocks. But the inspiration was from Ali none-the-less.

Ingredients
blocks
Distress Crackle Paint
Core'dinations Black Magic
Cuttlebug and their embossing folders
Grungeboard, plain and letters
Heidi Grace stamps
Rock Candy Stickles
Alcohol ink
Prima flowers
REAL peppermint chips (sealed and tops with stickles)
Fragments, tags
number charms

This finishes my fireplace mantel. I just need to add the stockings and I'll get a photo.

Have you sign…

We Had a Grand Time!

Image
I enjoyed myself last night at Debby's Dream Studio Christmas Sing-a-long. Besides all those that attended and sang themselves horse our "star" of the night was Core'dinations. Core'dations kindly gifted-away two of their collections. Vintage and Black Magic. I love both and have both in my personal stash!

I used Core'dinations here to show you a quick and easy way to make a last minute Christmas card or that after Christmas "thank you" note.

If you have followed me here you know I drag my feet when it comes to making cards. I needed to make some "thank you" cards last week and wanted something "crafty" but nice. In making my cards I realize one of my problems with making crafty cards is I just know many people will end up tossing the card. For me that is sad because I put a little bit of me in everything I do. So I came up with a solution: the "Pay It Forward" card. FYI:  if you send me a homemade card I KEEP them.
