The Ghosts of Christmas Past

Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" is my favorite book and television show to watch throughout the holiday season. Now a few get silly, aka the Muppet's Christmas Carol or Mickey's Christmas Carol or even the one with Bill Murray. There are many many more. But those shows that depict the truer meaning of what Charles Dickens was trying to say are my favorites. You can read the book right here on the net. Charles Dickens "A Christmas Carol."

I'm working on my own "book" about one aspect of "A Christmas Carol." I'm working on a min-book about my "Ghosts of Christmas Past." I've been up most of the night excited to go through all the old photos to find some real treasures. check out a few of the photos I found. Do you remember any of these toys? I still love Chatty Cathy and wish I still had her. I do still have the Barbie Doll AND I have a record player (aka. pre-CD player). LOL

I'm Not in the Crowds Today!!!

NOTE: I will announce the winner of the Comment / Link RAK later tonight. Click here to enter.

My son was out the door at 3:30 am. Of course he did not leave quietly, so I've been awake since then. I'm getting reports from him of large crowds and great deals. Most of my gifts are going to be crafted so I don't have to fight the crowds or traffic. I wonder is this an American phenomena or is it worldwide? Someone leave a comment and let us know. Thanksgiving was fun. In enjoyed my family, the turkey and all the fixin's. I especially had fun working off my dinner playing with my Granddaughter. She had a bit of Dr. Pepper and the caffeine set in. This four year old fire ball worked me out. I LOVED it. She makes my heart beat a little faster. I have not posted any projects in a bit because I was working on my Advent Calendar. I was so inspired by the Fiskars Design Team that I decided to make my own advent calendar using their ideas and putting my twist to it. If you have n…

The Hurried Holiday Season

Wow, Thanksgivingis coming fast and Christmas is right around the corner. Lots of wonderful things are happening all around me. LOL I did this layout about 2 years ago and it has always been one of my favorites. It's not so much the design as it is photo. My dad took this photo about 45 years ago. This is my brother and me. It was a time of innocence and fun. I love my memories of our time together as children. It is important to me is to make memories for my children and grandchildren that bring back smells, sounds, touch, and the warmness of family. Here's what I've been up to a bit:

I taught a technique class last Thursday with Ranger Products and Studio 490 Stamps. These are my a few of my friends from Fellowship of Scrapbookers. NOTE: Kathy was just published in "stampers' sampler take ten". Congratulations!
Does it look like we all had fun? I know I did. I can't wait until our next meeting! Here is what my husband I did yesterday. LOL Jim w…

Hugs Hugs Hugs

This Totally Rocks...I could not Help But Post it here and Tell you To Give away a Hug or Two todaY!

"Description: Youtube video of the year!
Sometimes, a hug is all that we need. Free Hugs is the real life controversial story of Juan Mann, a man whose sole mission was to reach out and hug a stranger put a smile on their face.

In this age of social-disconnection most all of us lack that simple human touch from another, the effects of the Free Hugs Campaign are now felt around the globe.

As this simple gesture of kindness and hope spread across the city, police and officials ordered the Free Hugs Campaign BANNED. What we then witnessed was the true spirit of humanity as people came together in what can only be described as something awe inspiring.

In the spirit of the Free Hugs Campaign please pass this video to a friend and HUG a stranger! After all, you CAN make a difference.

Fiskars Friday AGAIN!

LOL I finally was able to get the video uploaded to YouTube. I had a weird funny kinda time trying to do this. If I had not laughed I would have given up a long time ago. But I'm either persistent or stubborn. It's according to who you ask. LOL

If you pick up a tip leave me a comment. It would be very encouraging. I am still working on the quality. The tech person at Logitech has been suggesting a series of ideas and I'm working on it. It could be that I need a more powerful computer.

Fiskars Friday on Thursday!

I'm getting a little better at the video thing. Debbie Buckland says practice makes perfect. I'm a long way, but it's better than the first one. LOL

Please leave a comment if you picked up something new.

******Having Diffiiculties with Video***** Will upload Tonight*****
I have frustrated myself trying to get this to upload. So I'm going unload and reload the whole program tomorrow. I'll try again after that. Sorry guys.Michelle McGee Tagged Me! I love these things. You already know so much, so I'm going to dig and see if I can come up with some weird or little known facts about me.

1. I was in love with Donny Osmond as a teenager! Posters, records (you know the black round things that plays on a contraption that goes around and the needle is placed in a groove and music comes out. LOL); every show. I loved Donny. He's not bad now! **wink wink**

2. I wore bell bottom pants and either baby doll shirts or those …

Encouragement comes from all different directions. It comes from people, events, even something as simple as watching the leaves dance in the wind. I was enjoying the overcast sky and the breeze outside Saturday when a gust came along and the leaves on the ground went into this beautiful dance. It was but a small moment, but encouraged me greatly.

Encouragement is not always the "pat you on the back" type of thing. I'm encouraged by seeing others succeed and honored. I'm encouraged when I see my children making good everyday decisions. I'm encouraged when the leaves turn from green to red and back to green. Encouragement is a hug, someone picking up the phone to call you to say hello, it is your pup meeting you at he back door, it is a rainbow or newly fallen snow.

Encouragement, we all need it and certainly we want it if sincerely given.

Do you know someone who has had a rough time, has been sick, financial struggling? Do you know a shut-in, a person who lives alon…

What Do You Collect?

I was blog surfing a couple of days ago and ran across May Flaum's blog Confessions of a Chocoholic. She has a beautiful photo of a tea cup. I started looking around my house to remember all the things I have collected through the years. Oh, my goodness I've collected and my husband has collected so many things. Now, this is not counting all the scrapbook products I have collected for the last 6 years. LOL
Inspired by May I thought I would post a few of my tea cups that I collect. The aqua colored tea cup is from Ruth's (one of my bf) mother. Ruth told me they were hand crafted in Japan and a gift from some of her mother's friends from Japan. The white with pink roses are well over 35 years old. My mother purchased these in Germany when I was a smmmmmall child. They are bone china made in Germany. She gave me the whole set of china! Way to go, mom. The demitask cup is a beautiful gift from the same Ms. Ruth. I so love my cups and she picked this one up just for me. It …

Fiskars Friday on Thursday

The Certified Fiakars Demonstrators has a Fiskars-Friday where we link up to have everyone join the CFDs to demonstration Fiskars Finest. My projects are simple and I've usually used it at AC Moores or a LSS before I bring it here. Then I know if there are any problems or what people really liked. Crafters loved this make-n-take. Why? Fun tools of course. Also the box is versatile for any event or season. I chose Christmas, because it is the season of giving and what better to make than a Giving Box!

Here is the website to print your template. They have several wonderful templates. It is from "the Stampers Sampler" Tempting Templates by Stampington & Company. For this project you will need the pattern name "Box Template."

Now I have to tell you my tech guy and I are still working the "blur" from this video. I'm sorry, but I think it is a tiny bit better, just not where I want it.

DARE WINNERS: At this post we have 104 comments! Hurray! Thank you.…

Our Fearless Lead

Our Wendy Jo Avey, one of the Five Leads for the Fiskateer for the Fiskateer communityin conjunction with Fiskars put on one of the biggest bashes on earth. You've seen my weekend of pure fun, Friendzy, and surprise. This is the person who put it together. This is just one of the many things she does for the Fiskateer Community and I'm happy to add her to my list of wonderful friends.

Well, this is my last post for the Hershey, PA event. I'll probably take a day or two off from blogging and rest my head and heart. This was the wildest day of my life and I've yet to sit down and soak it all in. What is incredible about it all is in one day I have developed some very deep and close friends from this event.

I have to tell you that I share the title of Fiskateer of the Year 2008 with two amazing, talented, and giving women: Laura Casey and Julie Overby. Laura was first named FOY about two weeks ago, I received my honor one week ago, and Julie was just honored yesterday. With…

The Sights and Smells of Hershey, PA

I wish we had "smell-a-vision" so I could let you smell all the chocolate and sweet smells of Hershey, PA. I think the slide show should give you a better view ofHershey, PA.

During our Trolley Tour of Hershey we learned some very interesting facts about Milton Hershey. He has become one of my new heroes. Some things that stuck with me:
MH had the equivalent of a 3rd grade education; MH went bankrupt about 4 times before he became successful; MH and Catherine had no children; M and C Hershey founded a school for orphan boys which became their children; the school still exists today with boys and girls; ever child that graduates with at least a "C" average will receive 6,000.00 to go to college (this past year it was 100% for the first time ever); before MH died he setup a trust and signed his fortunate over to his children to be forever cared for; he built houses and sold them for $1.00 (nice houses); he made sure his employees never suffered without a job during the…

(Psst...go to the right and to the bottom and turn the music off if you want to hear my sweet voice!!)

Well, it took me 5 takes to get this under the time. LOL I'm still having difficulties with movement. I have a Logitech webcam so if anyone knows what I can do to make it better I would really appreciate it.

I met so many new Fiskateers as well as being able to see Fiska-friends that I had formed friendships through this last year. I now have 70 + new friends.
I am constantly amazed at the power of the friendships among the Fiskateers. We could have never met in person, but once we do it is like we are old friends. Being a Fiskateer, to me, is like having a very large family full of love and grace. Awesome. If you would like to know how to join the Fiskateer community email me at

If this is a taste of Heaven everyone needs to go there. OH, MY Goodness! Did I have the best time on earth in Hershey, PA. Fiskars,Fiskateers, Scrapbooking, Cropping, Love, and Chocolate. Anything any better? LOL There is no way I can tell you my whole adventure in one blog post so I will try to break it down everyday from now until Sunday.

Okay, let's start in the middle. See my new Banner? Can you believe it? I'm in a state of total absolute SHOCK! I went to the Fiska-Friendzy to meet Fiskateers, eat chocolate and help Wendy Jo with the event. I did not have a hint or even a hope of something like this. It's not something I was even thinking about. Here is a photo that is the cornerstone of my reaction.
Carrie (with Brains on Fire) and Wendy Jo, Lead Fiskateer, got up to give out an honor to someone. (Still clueless at this point). I grabbed my camera and got down on my knees to take as many photos as possible. Carrie was describing why this person was receiving this hono…
