Mixing It Up

I haven't post any of my layouts in over a week. I've been ultra busy working on classes for Micheal's,Arts and Craft Stores. Yes, they have scrapbooking classes once again! If you are in the Columbia, SC area I'm teaching at the Harbinson Store and the Two Notch Road Store. You can find my schedule on the right, first column. I'm excited. Matter-of-fact, I'm teaching a lot in the next two months. I am grateful.

The point of above is to tell you the style of layout I'm teaching is different from the artsy stuff I'm use to doing, so I needed to bust loose and work on a layout. I had fun just playing with paint, findings, Glimmer Mist, Grungeboard, Pink Paislee, Bo Bunny, and Prima. With permission from Sudie Alexander, owner of unKit, I created this layout from a photo from the photo booth at my daughter's wedding back in April.

I guess you would like to know who won the Queens of heART challenge? Thank you for participating in the challenge. Everyo…

EMERGENCY!! Take Care of this NOW!

I've been told since day one of scrapbooking to remove all photos from the old style photo albums called Magnetic Photo Albums.  You've probably heard the same thing.

Yesterday, at a crop, I decided to remove the photos from two of 4 albums that has this style photo album.  I have to tell you how ill I got when I realize I allowed several of my photos to ruin.

Here is a pictorial journey of the process of removing the photos and showing you the damage it caused.  The photos were taken with my Blackberry.

The Magnetic Album did not seem to have damaged my photos at all in the beginning... just yellowing on the album page itself.
You can see the yellowing here.
Make sure you have something to store you photos in until you can scrapbook them.
Make sure you have a photo safe pen to identify the photo later.
There is damage here, but barely noticeable.
With the close up you can see the yellowing that migrated onto my photo.
The migration of the yellowing does not stop at the edge of the…

Opposites Attract

I was in one of my MOODs Sunday and just had to do a bit of designing and painting and stapling…you get the drift.

I found an old photo of Adam (now 27) and Jimmy on one of his Kindergarten days. It was a perfect photo of the two of them together, precious beyond words.

Here was my thinking: Opposites Attract.

You can see the same layout below with the arrows of the same design idea, different mediums sometimes, but at opposing sides, ends of the layout.

I had a great time working it all out and I love how it turned out. Isn’t that the important thing? How you feel about your layouts? If it makes you happy and conveys your story then you have made the perfect layout.

I have loads to tell you, but I’ll wait until tomorrow!

Gratitude List
1. no stomach ache tonight
2. rain that cools the hot days
3. an afternoon with Tab and David
4. Jim’s overwhelming support
5. God’s goodness and protection in my life.

Incredible Class

I recently attend Creating Keepsakes Convention.  Usually, I never finish the project, but more and more classes are including color photos with instructions so you can finish it later with your photos.

I had to dig in and finish this Technique Tuesday, Ali Edwards' designed class.  It is simple, but the design if fabulous.  I enjoyed taking Jacob from a young child on page one and to his senior year on page two.

Technique tip.  The photos are by Expressions Photography and are Jacob's Senior portrait.  These are just the proofs with watermarks.  I lightly adhered them to the layouts and when my order arrives I'll replace them with the photos without the watermark.  The purpose of not waiting is that now I was inspired to do this particular set of layouts.

I was sneaky and picked a winner yesterday for a bit of scrapbook goodness.  If it's you send your snail mail address to .

The winner is Blessed Ladybug!  Congratulations.

Debby's Dare Demo: Canned Flowers

I could not resist the title of today's Debby's Dare Demo.  LOL  While watching Cool2Craft (and do check it out...AWESOME) with Tiffany Windsor one of the women with Cool2Craft was showing making jewelry with soda cans.  Sooooo, I decided to put my twist to it and make Canned Flowers.

Enjoy the demo and leave a comment.  I'm in a sneaky mood today and might sneak in and pull a winner for a giveaway/RAK just anytime!

Hodge Podge

Life has certainly been busy with heART of Scrapbooking, teaching, events, traveling to find more wonderful products and inspiration and meeting new wonderful scrapbookers.

Erika Taylor from Helmar's and Nikki Sivils Design Team has made another wonderful tag using Debby's Design Girl Vintage Tags.  I was privileged to meet Erika and spend a little time with her recently.  She is awesome and has a real heart for what she does.  The link to her blog "Taylor Made" is to the right of my blog.

Incredible, Erkia and thank you for your beautiful work showcasing Debby's Design.  You can purchase Debby's Design tags at heART of Scrapbooking.  Special low shipping rates are given for those who just order the tags.

This past weekend I attended Creating Keepsake Convention.  Of course I had to purchase a few goodies; Maya Road, Webster's Pages, Quick Quotes, and some bling.  I really got off light.

I took a few classes and when I complete all the pages I will cert…

My Best Friend and Scrapbooking Buddy

My best scrapbooking buddy and friend, Bailey-Bailey, went to sleep July 22. Many of you have seen Bailey when he would help chose winners or help me out with Debby’s Dare Demos and even when he was just being to funny for words.

Bailey would sit at my feet under the computer desk while I worked and played on the computer. When I was scrapbooking he was always in the room sometimes on my lap.

My little dapple Dachshund was my heart. I miss him terrible. He was 7 years and 2 days old when suddenly a problem occurred with his back that was not fixable and created a lot of pain for my baby.

I’m glad he walked in life with me for those 7 years.

Below is a wonderful presentation in memory and in honor of my Bailey-Bailey.

Thanks for being the best dog and friend to me and our family, Bailey.

Gratitude List
1. Bailey
2. laughter
3. silliness that keeps you young
4. unconditional love
5. God grace to allow such a loving pup to grace my life

Up for A Scavenger Hunt (of sorts) and a Giveaway?***UPDATE***

I typed something confusing so here is the clarification.  The sign I was wanting you to find is the "new" sign I did not post below.  Good Grief on me.  Here is the sign to find.  If a category has the "new" sign in it somewhere in that category, that category would qualify as 1 in the Scavenger Hunt.  I'm sorry.  I'm going to extend the deadline until Thursday.  Thanks.

Before we get into the Scavenger Hunt I wanted to let you know about an upcoming event week here at Debby's Dare Blog.  First week of September I will have some very extra special guests.  It will be Teen Week!  I will have teens that scrapbook sharing their favorite scrapbook pages.  I hope you will join me.

I did not take anything to crop with at the FOS crop.  I had just returned from Chicago with CHA and was wiped out.  I did however have a lot of friends who allowed me to use scissors, paper, adhesive, glue, etc.  Thank you guys so much.  I got 4 cards done and had more at home.  Here are the ones I made at the crop.

Gratitude List
1.  our men and women who service our country
2.  God's protection through the exhaustion
3.  Jimmy, who has become more than my husband, but my friend
4.  Tabitha and David
5.  God's timing and love for me.

Incredible! and a Giveaway

Incredible! That’s the women of Fellowship of Scrapbookers. I put out an email that we were doing our annual Christmas in July crop. Our charity was Operation Write Home. Our goal was to complete 500 cards for our deployed service men and women to send back to their families and friends. All had to meet Operation Write Home specifications.

Ruth and I just had returned Friday afternoon from CHA and Saturday morning we were having a 9am to 9 pm crop. The ladies are and were incredible as they came together to help me decorate, coordinate food and drinks, to help set up tables and get the kits to the tables, and to clean up. A special shout out goes to April for staying until I walked out the door finishing all the cleaning. Incredible.

My husband made sure to take care of lunch, brought tables from our home and the church, and help set up and tear down. My son, bless his heart all day long, worked hard to try and get all the heavy things for the women from their cars to their seat. Lexin…

Photo's of Last Day of CHA 2010

The end came fast.  We just got started good and it was the end.  Isn't that they life runs?  On the last day Ruth and I were determined to do make-n-takes and see demos.  We test drove the new ProvoCraft Imagine.  That's was one drive.  I really love it.  I made and Idea-ology key chain, Christmas.  So I'm in the Christmas mood.  Little Yellow Bicycle has a cute card displaying their Christmas paper line.

Trends: to make scrapbooking easier like the portable scanner that won the Innovation Award and Epiphany's button and embellishment maker that won Innovative Booth (something like that) Award;
....Halloween I think out number Fall and Christmas papers;
....electronic die cut machines, Silhouette...e-cut...e-clips...Slice...and all types of Circuts;
...vintage; coverage was astounding.  Many companies were professional recording the make-n-takes or there was media there to cover Suede from Project Runway and of course our one and only Amy Coon fro…
