Gathered Shells Lately? Authentique's Seaside Layout

It's beach time here in South Carolina.  We have beautiful beaches, but Florida's Panama City Beach is spectacular!  I have a cabinet full of shells my son has collected over the years.  Summer is shell season.

Again I am using one of my Page Map cards from Becky Fleck.  I decided to declare this week Page Map Week on D's Paper Studio.  Check out Becky Fleck's website Page Maps if you like sketches for creating your layouts.  It certainly helps with the "bones" of a layout.

Here is my take on Becky's Page Map card....

The Story
This is my little beach bum.  Authentique's Seaside collection is perfect for the colors in his swimwear.

Becky's Map Card...
I continue to experiment using mixed media products.
I used Heidi Swapp's stencil to create the wavy center of the page.  I added different color inks and spritz the page with water causing the ink to blend and soften.Accented it with stamped wording. This stuff is just fun.

My Beach Babes...And An Unfinshed "House!"

I have the ongoing project called My Blog.  I have the "bones" in place.  Some ideas are in process and some just are not finished.  So this is my apology for my "unfinished house being cluttered."  I hope this week I am able to complete the overhaul of D's Paper Studio.  It has been a journey learning about coding, hosting photos for third party links and exploring how I want my blog to I reflect me.  As the old saying goes "It ain't easy."  While I'm recreating my blog I'm going to keep exploring and creating my art.  Thanks for hanging out with me in my "house."

You might know Page Maps by Becky Fleck.  I won her book of Page Maps/cards at a Creating Keepsakes convention some time ago.  I pulled a few out with the thought I would add my style to her Page Maps.  It has been a fun adventure.

Good Decision...Good Times Ahead

I am excited! I am overwhelmed at what lies ahead! I hope I'm a quick learner!
Photobucket was my third party host for many of my photos with links.  Without warning they decided to go from a free service to $399.00 a year for their service.  Do you know how many art supplies you can buy for $399.00?

This is the push I need to reconstruct my blog (update it's features) in hopes that the new and improved blog will reflect ME and what I want to accomplish with my art.
The blog is open.  Some sidebar information is in hiding. My social media accounts are ...

"So In Love" A Page For Great Maw Maw

One of the most beautiful photos my daughter has taken is of my husband's parents.  I tried my hand at mixed media on a layout. The happiest part of the layout is that no matter my trial and errors this photo of two amazing people shines through.

Their Golden Anniversary has come and gone many years ago.  They have worked hard side by side to farm the land, raise two wonderful children, experience sadness and great joy.  I have stories Mom as has shared with me.  Through her stories I have become more apart of their family's past.   I love her and Dad and respect the life they built together.  With my love ...

I'm Just A "Y"

My daughter and I embarked on a beautiful project several years ago.  It has become an amazing focal point for the kids in their playroom.  You might remember...
D's Paper Studio post ABC Completed for close-ups and more information.

The letters are held on the wall by 3M Command Velcro strips.  One thing we learned early was that yarn and adhesive like that is on 3M Command Velcro doesn't work.  That mean the "Y" gave us problems from the beginning.  Well, I finally gave up.

Time for a "Y" remake.

I loved remaking the "Y" in honor of our only grandboy who totally loves the beach.
I painted the sides with The Fine Touch acrylic paint Sky Blue.

-Added one of my favorite beach/ocean paper collections Graphic 45's By The Sea.
-Applied Rangers Glossy Accents over the "Y."
-Applied paper to the cardboard "Y."
-Let dry.
-Cut with x-acto knife.
-Ink the edges with Tim Holtz distress inks Mermaid Lagoon

Creating a Safari Adventure with Little

I am having fun capturing photos and creating layouts with Graphic 45's Safari Adventure collection.  I added a little mixed media, a little fussy cut, texture, a little magic with the computer/printer and a beautiful photo.

Little was about 3 years old in this photo.  She loves the lorikeets and adores feeding them even now at 6.
Mixed Media:  Gessoed my chipboard leaves (Wendy Vecchi), sprayed to cover with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist light green.

After it dried I peeled off two of the layers...will use again...and curled up another small layer.  I painted the inside part of the leaves with Fine Touch paint, Grass Green.

Accented the chipboard leaves with a gold chain (trying to use up some of my products).

I made a "flick it" mix with Fine Touch white paint and Cracked Pistachio distress ink by inking my mat and mixing in the paint.  I added water to the mix and flicked the mixture onto the leaves and surrounding part of the page.

You Are Here ... with Graphic 45's Safari Adventure

I saw this photo of Little (my granddaughter) and nearly died laughing.  I remembered I had a cool title from Heidi Swapp "you are here."  Doesn't it work?  I tired again to do a bit more mixed media on my layout...some success and some not so much.  I could not help but chuckle my way through the layout because of the photo.

(Excuse the lighting...I'll blame the sun, you can blame the timing of the photo on me.)

I was trying to make a cloudy shadow around the top and bottom pieces.  It didn't work so I used Tim Holtz's layer stencil to create a giraffe-like background for the save.
Due to lighting you can't see the stamped words on the "you are here" title.  It is…
