Squish, Squash

Yep, yesterday was Mammogram day.  I'll spare you the details other to say everyone was kind.  The imaging specialist Diane was particularly kind, funny, and compassionate.

If you haven't had your yearly Mammogram I urge you greatly to do so.  I went to have mine done this time because I thought there was a problem.  The doctor read my images and let me know immediately everything was okay.  The stress immediately was relieved.

Two of the sweetest ladies I've met because of the internet and worked with one at an event had breast cancer this year.  You probably know someone.  I have one Aunt who is a survivor and one Aunt who did not.  It's a frightening thing Breast Cancer.  I urge you GREATLY to make your appointment today to have your Mammogram done and may you have someone to care for you as good as Diane.

FYI:  my 17 year old found a way to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness by playing video games.  The company he played for donate a certain amount of money …

Scrapbooking is Pure Joy

Image
I love it, I'm passionate about it and at times terribly addicted to it!  I make no apologies for being a Scrapbooker and boast it quite LOUDLY.  One gentleman at the Flea Market saw me admiring some old photos from WWII battles.  He said, "You look like a woman who enjoys paper items.  Let me show you something."  He dug through a box he had not put out on the table and this is what he showed me:

This scrapbook is from the late 1930s.  It is full of pictures of famous people with their autographs.  It is truly incredible.  I asked the price.  Well, it wasn't for sell.  What a tease.  He said he was clearing out an estate and had not had time to research it's value.  In the meantime I'm freaking out because it went back into the same box of "items" to be damaged even more.  FYI:  I'm staying in touch with the seller because if nothing else I want the book, I don't need the photos.  See I'm a bit addicted.  LOL

Here are a few layouts, very…

Come Fly with Me!

Image
We rode the sky ride for the first time ever.  It was so much fun to see the lights and people from above.  It was very exciting.  Come ride with me for the second.

Create your own video slideshow at animoto.com.

Of course there was food...some very weird like fried Snicker Bars, fried butter balls, Krispy Kreme hamburgers. Sorry, I'm not that willing to die of heart failure. LOL

Bread Pudding is my absolute favorite Fair Food.

Read the different fried items they have.  Some love it...but I'm not even thinking I want any.

Fiske Fries is one of Jim's favorites.

My wonderful husband.

 My favorite Fair dinner...Polish Sausage!

Yum!
Games, Animals, Crafts, and more is all part of the State Fair experience that Jim and I enjoyed.

My entry in the punch category...but sadly no ribbon, but they displayed it greatly.  I used Fiskars Squeeze Punch, scalloped square.

"Jim, it's not about winning, it's about having fun!"

You can tell it's the end of the Fair for us whe…

Let Them Eat Cake!

Image
I always fall in love with the decorated cakes at the SC State Fair.  This year they were exceptional.  The photos fall short of the real thing.  Imagine the time and talent it took to do these and get them to the fair in one piece!

Aren't they incredible?  Which is your favorite? I think thelittle M&M pies are so cute!

Sharing
Here one more layout I did at my crop.  Again, without all my bells and whistles but with my handy-dandy Fiskars circle cutter and scallop punch I was still able to make a cute design.

This is Tabitha and her brothers.  It's amazing we ever get a photo with them with a straight face!  Our William loves to make them laugh in the funnest ways.  In the middle of a family photo shoot once and everyone was so serious, he pinches Adam who jumps and turns bright red as the camera goes "click."  I didn't know what was going on but everyone was dying laughing!!  My children.

What a Weekend!

I packed enough fun into my Friday and Saturday to share with you all week!

South Carolina State Fair
I had so much fun with my husband at the State Fair.  Food!  Rides!  Games!  Animals!  Exhibits!  They were all so much fun.  I wanted to share one of the many fun moments we had.  Now my husband says no, but I would love to have a little miniature potbelly pig.   I held this little baby in my arms and she licked my face just like a puppy, her hair was soft and well cared for, and when I talked to her she just snuggled.  I've never been known for the usual type of anything, and this sweetheart was totally cute.  The owner of this sweet baby took the first photo and my husband was standing behind her shaking his head "no" while taking photos.  LOL

Tomorrow I'll bring you some photos of some incredible over the top, unbelievable cakes on exhibit for the State Fair.

33 Years

Image
Yes, that me and my husband 33 years ago.  I walked down the aisle on Friday, October 14th, 7:10 pm to meet the man I would spend the rest of my life getting to know.  Believe it or not we were only 18 years old and knew nothing about being married.  We only knew we loved each other.

We learned about marriage and loving throughout these 33 years.  Many times it was so difficult and others it was the easiest thing we've ever done.  I have stories that will take me another 33 years to scrapbook.  One thing I've learned along this journey is that love is not just a butterfly feeling in your stomach.  I've learned that love is about sacrifice , about giving without expectation of a return, and forgiveness.  Marriage is all about grace.  Unconditional Grace.  It does not happen overnight, but over the years it becomes clear through trial and error.  Then you practice the grace and that will take me throughout the rest of my life to learn just how to work through grace in my mar…

I'm excited to share all the creative work Connie has been working on this month for heART of Scrapbooking.  I have to share with you first that Connie was published this month in Ready, Set, Create using Debby's Design Vintage Tags.  She did an over-the-top terrific job.  Congratulations Connie!

SPIDERS

Supply List: Pattern Paper: Moxxie/Dragon's Lair, Loyalty and Wizard Wares ( brackets only) Cardstock: white Tags: 7gypsies Stickers: Jenni Bowlin, Making Memories Embellishments: hemp, buttons and vintage encyclopedia paper Instructions: The photo size is 2"x2". I then mounted them on the white cardstock, giving the film strip look and ink around the cardstock, if you like.  The next thing I did was steal the middle out of the  Moxxie/Loyalty paper, so I would have the frame to make the banner out of. It worked perfect!!!  I then added a machine stitch all around the middle square. The banner was made using the courage words ( you need courage to be around spiders!…
