Last Julie Nutting Christmas Tag of 2017

Here is my last Christmas tag I made this year.  I had so much fun making Christmas Tags with Julie Nutting doll stamps.  It is fun to personalize them in my layouts as well.  Color their hair, skin color, clothing color, and prints.  I can match them up to a time in history or look like one of my grands.  I highly recommend these stamps by Julie Nutting and I'm sure you will see more of them from me in 2018.

The doll stamp and car remind me of the style of the 60's.

I found this fussy cut bow at the last minute (remember I keep everything) and added it to the headband.  Cool.
The dress is made of Graphic 45 scraps.  The presents are from Basic Grey's Figgy Pudding.  The shoes are glitter with Tim's Distress Glitter.

Note:  for me, cutting out the shoe pieces is difficult.  I found, for this o…

Glittery Christmas Tag #6...Julie Nutting Doll Stamp

Only a few more days of 2017 and a few more tags.  I used a solid white glitter cardstock for the base of this tag and love the Christmas/Wintry effect.

Graphic 45 paper.. bits and pieces I hoarded...LOL

I made the doll first, before designing the tag, so I went back and replaced the vest and headband with the glitter cardstock.

I covered the chit-chat words with Rock Candy Stickles and outlined the edges with Fire Brick distress ink.  I wish I would have used Broken China.
The outline of this piece is the Elizabeth Craft Design Peel Off.  I adhered it to the glitter cardstock and use the Copic pens to color it.  I topped off the branches with…

Christmas Tag #5 Julie Nutting Doll Stamp

Here is another of my Christmas tags that did not make it to the Christmas card mailing list.  I do have them hanging with garland as part of my holiday decor.  Christmas may be a day old but my garland is staying up in order to warm the wintry cold days ahead.

Christmas Tags with Julie Nutting Dolls

Confession time.  I could not bear to part with my Julie Nutting doll stamp tags I made for Christmas.  Instead, I incorporated them into my home decor for Christmas.  Here is one of my favorites (they are all my favorites...LOL).

Joe Mugs Coffee
While at Books-A-Million I love to have a cup of Joe Mugs coffee.  The Santa at the bottom is my coffee sleeve.  I love the Santa and I added the words.   So I have a tag and a memory.

The words are attached securely.  They are curled up and "un-stuck" in places as part of the effect.

Stampin' Up Christmas paper
Little Yellow Bicycle paper
Tim Holtz chit chat,

Buttons and such
Let's see if I can get all the dolls posted before Christmas.  I'm feeling a bit better this morning.  Thanks for prayers and thoughts for continued wellness.

Inspired To Created/Encouraged To Try

I Created A Christmas Card!

Yes, I did.  I created a Christmas Card.  Tim Holz's Alterations Christmas Thinlit Die-Home for the Holidays made this fun and simple for me.  This is one of my "Tim Favorites."

Merry Christmas
The Story
A kind Fiskateer (former members of the Fiskars online community) sends me a homemade Christmas card every year.  This has been ongoing for many years.  If you read my blog you know I have a mental block about making cards.  Because of this, I have never made my friend a card in return.  This year I decided to finally make and send one to him.   I had fun making it for Don and I hope he enjoys it as much.

Refurbished Window With A New Purpose

My husband's niece has a wonderful shop called the Happy Gourd.  It is full of antiques and art that she creates.  While in Florida I visited her booth and found a few new additions to my obsession with old windows.  I have three windows and this is the first time I actually tried to do something with it.

Christmas Window
I love the vertical glass panes on this window which was initially what drew me to it.  We wondered where the window came from.  This is why I love this window:  it belonged to my husband's Great Aunt Addy.  Jim believes the house is over 100 years old.

I have never restored a window so this project created a lot of learning moments for me.  This was the window before restoring...bad photos because I did not think to take a good photo before I started working on it.

Let It Snow...Winter Past Scrapbook Page

I am excited about my project to use my older Christmas papers and my vintage photos.  This is a photo of me and my brother in Germany.  I remember the snows being so much fun.  People tell me that it doesn't snow as much in the parts of Germany I lived.  From my kid self, you are missing a lot of fun.

Kaisercraft, Bo Bunny, and Prima paper collection
Tim Holtz Distress Vintage Photo ink and chit-chat stickers.
Post Cards remind me of a slower time.  Post Cards were probably the email of my day.  Short, less expensive, and delivered faster than a letter.  LOL
I used a border musical sticker, a piece of leftover paper with music, the edge (you know the part you cut off with the manufacturer's name on it) with the numbers on it along with a few bits and pieces of paper and stickers I had saved.
The holly and bird are stickers.  I popped dotted the bird to look like it was hanging from the holly.

Simple, but accomplishing two things:  documenting Christmas Pas…

Christmas Past

Old paper, embellishments, ingenuity and a vintage photo create a fun Christmas page.  I admit it.  I'm a Christmas paper hoarder.  There is something about Christmas that makes me want to save every crumb of Christmas paper.  Now I have a storage issue so my goal is to use as much as I can during the Christmas season.  Saying that, know that I am using NEW Bo Bunny Carousal Christmas for my December Daily.  So this December holiday might be named "Something Old, Something New."

I am around 10 years old in this photo.  Again with the tinsel tree in the background.

Christmas Past: Vintage Page

I am having a grand time going through my old photos and remembering some fun times (and not so fun tinsel hanging times LOL) as a child.  I look back and think..."This is vintage?"  Yes, it is.  Do you still hang tinsel on your Christmas Tree?

Do you know what brand this paper is?  I have a lot of friends who might remember this awesome line.  Leave me a comment and see if you can guess it.

A couple of techniques were inspired by a layout from a design team member of Bo Bunny.

A couple of fun things here.
Tim Holtz Thinlets "Village Christmastime"
Tim Holtz Mini Thinlets die "Snowflakes"
Vintage milk/juice bottle caps from the master "picker" Conner Mercer of Crafty Goodies.

I don't know why I decided to add the vintage bottle caps other than I have a vague memory of having milk delivered to our kitchen door when I was little.  I do remember the best part of the milk of the cream off the top.

Christmas Angel with Julie Nutting

More fun with Julie Nutting doll stamps and a bit of mixed media.

Julie Nutting's doll stamp "Steffi" and background paper.
Graphic 45 paper
Creative Embellishments chipboard butterfly
The "wings" are a butterfly I sort of messed up.  So I inked and embossed...overheated to get the burst bubbles then painted with white gesso.  A bit of a wrought iron look.
Tag:  Bo Bunny Christmas glitter paper that I gessoed.
Plastic gears, gessoed.  Prima flowers, buttons, Brea Reese textured pebbles with texture paste, painted and glittered with Tim Holtz Distress Glitter.
Foam reindeer from a friend.  I ran it through an embossing folder and painted one of the snowflakes and tipped the antlers with white paint.  The eye is Ranger's peals and the nose is Ranger's Stickles.
Swirl is an Art Part from Wendy Vecchi's collection.  Painted with white crackle paint, painted over with blue paint and added Tim's Distress Glitter.

Home for the Holidays...Blast From The Past

For the month of November every Thursday I am going to revisit some of my favorite blog posts from my past yearly event "Home For The Holidays."  Guests from around the crafty world were invited to share their family traditions and many included crafts, techniques, recipes, and always many warm family traditions.

I want to start out with one of my all-time favorite crafters Cheryl Waters and her post from 2012.

A Tradition of Gratitude
Traditions are such an important part of each culture and people group.I love that each of us have unique traditions that we pass down that help make us who we are as a family and individual. Both Thanksgiving and Christmas are rich in traditions for my family and I.It is a time that we cherish all that the past year has brought and look forward to what the new year holds.
Some of you may celebrate Hanukkah or Kwanza.I feel that this a tradition that can transcend to any way you celebrate the season. This is a tradition of gratitude and thankfuln…
